Chargers’ RB Omarion Hampton Sends Strong Message on Return After Eagles Win

Coming into the 2025 NFL season, there were some high expectations surrounding rookie running back Omarion Hampton of the Los Angeles Chargers, as he was the second back taken off the board (No. 22) in the 2025 NFL Draft after the division rival Las Vegas Raiders took Ashton Jeanty at No. 6 overall.

Unfortunately for Hampton, he hasn’t played much during his rookie campaign, as he went down with an ankle injury in Week 5 against the Washington Commanders. However, he was finally able to return on Monday night against the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, and immediately made an impact for the Chargers.

Hampton scored the team’s only touchdown during Monday’s overtime thriller, catching a four-yard pass from star quarterback Justin Herbert in the first quarter. The North Carolina product finished the game with 67 yards from scrimmage and the first receiving touchdown of his NFL career.

After being a game-changer for the Chargers during the Monday Night Football showdown with the Eagles, Hampton spoke with ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt about his return to the field after missing most of the season up to this point.

“It feels amazing to be back with the guys just to help the team out a little bit,” Hampton said. “I can’t ask for anything better really.”

Van Pelt went on to ask Hampton about the Chargers being set to face a tough final stretch of the regular season.

“Just attack it, really. Everybody knows the goal that we want. We want a Super Bowl, so we’re going to attack every game one by one.”

Hampton also talked about what it is like to win a game like this on the main stage of Monday Night Football against one of the best teams in the NFC.

“We just know that these are the tough games we’ve got to win, especially with a good team like Philly. I feel like going out there and getting the win is really big for us.”

After getting the best of the defending Super Bowl champions, the Chargers’ schedule doesn’t get any easier moving forward into the final four regular-season contests, starting with a division rival, the Kansas City Chiefs, on the road at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in Week 14.

The Chargers will be on the road for three of the final four games, which is a challenge in itself, but the competition makes it that much more challenging.

Following the Week 14 matchup against the Chiefs, who are as desperate a team as there is in the AFC right now, sporting a losing record of 6-7, Herbert and company will stay on the road to take on Dak Prescott‘s Dallas Cowboys in Week 15 at AT&T Stadium.

After taking on the Cowboys in Dallas, Jim Harbaugh’s squad will play its last regular-season game at home, playing host to the Houston Texans, who are one of the hottest teams in the league right now.

Finally, in Week 18, the Chargers will take on the division rival Denver Broncos at Empower Field at Mile High, which will likely be as challenging as any game during this season.
