Entering Week 4 with an undefeated record, the Los Angeles Chargers look to extend their win streak when they take on the New York Giants.
The Bolts have the best passing offense in the league, being led by quarterback Justin Herbert, who leads the NFL in passing yards and is tied for the fifth-most pass touchdowns in the league.
Los Angeles has won three straight AFC West divisional games to start the 2025 season and is one of six undefeated teams left in the league.
The NFL released its latest power rankings after Week 3, which sees the Chargers ranked five spots higher, now as the fourth-best team. Here’s what Eric Edholm had to say about putting LA higher:
“The Chargers are 3-0 for the first time since 2002, and most importantly, they are also 3-0 in the division with wins over each of their AFC West rivals, giving them a huge early edge in the race. All three victories have come in competitive games, with the Chargers more outlasting their opponents than anything else,” Edholm wrote.
Losing Key Offensive Weapon

The Bolts were able to pick up the win on Sunday against the Denver Broncos, but lost one of their key signings of the 2025 offseason.
Running back Najee Harris will be out the rest of the season after suffering an Achilles injury in the third game of the season. Harris has only rushed for 61 yards this season, but was one of two running backs on the team sharing snaps in the backfield.
Los Angeles selected RB Omarion Hampton with their first pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and now will get a majority of the shares with the team’s new RB2.
“The Bolts’ struggles to run the ball were already anathema to the typical DNA of a Jim Harbaugh team. Now, the onus is on first-rounder Omarion Hampton, who had a good second half vs. the Broncos, to be the bell cow from here on out. But as long as Los Angeles has Justin Herbert and these passing-game weapons, this team has a shot,” Edholm wrote.
Hampton has rushed for 142 yards in his rookie season so far. But with Harris no longer competing to share the snaps, the former North Carolina Tar Heel should expect higher production numbers.
Pass First Offense

As mentioned earlier, Justin Herbert currently leads the NFL in passing yards. The Los Angeles Chargers currently have 277 rushing yards, with non-running backs having 76 of those yards.
On the passing side of the ball, the Bolts currently have 3 receiving options who have over 163 receiving yards. Two of those receivers have recorded three receiving touchdowns from Justin Herbert.
Jim Harbaugh will decide to lean more into the pass offense with Najee Harris’ injury or allow Omarion Hampton to run loose.
The Los Angeles Chargers have been off to a good start this season and could put their name in the Super Bowl contender spot.
