Chase Briscoe has firmly established himself as one of the most dangerous drivers in the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs. After back-to-back Southern 500 victories, Briscoe is proving that consistency, speed, and resilience can make a driver a real threat to the sport’s established heavyweights.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. has taken notice of Briscoe’s late-season surge.
“Briscoe’s a little different in the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs, and he said, ‘Man! I love pressure.’… One of the hardest races to win in the year.”
“Dude, he is dangerous. I’d be a little concerned. If I was the competition, I’d be looking at him, going, ‘He’s got to be one of the guys I need to worry about,” Dale Jr. remarked.
Earnhardt continued, “I don’t know if he can win it all. I’m not ready to say he’s got a chance to go win the championship, but he’s going to ruin, and I think I said this, he’s going to ruin someone else’s.”
“He’s going to ruin another sure contender. But I mean, if there’s a final four that you feel like are four locks, he’s going to boot somebody out,” he added.
Dominating the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs
Briscoe has shown remarkable composure and skill throughout the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs. His back-to-back Southern 500 wins are a testament to his ability to perform under pressure, solidifying his position as a playoff contender.
After his latest victory, Briscoe shared his excitement, “At the end, that was way harder than it needed to be. Man, what an incredible Toyota. It was fun to finally be behind the wheel of it. So cool to win two Southern 500s in a row.”
“This is my favorite race of the year. Just because every time we come here, the place is sold out, the atmosphere here is like nowhere else. A great way to start our Playoffs. That was a lot of fun,” he said.
He added that the team’s commanding performance showcases their full potential as they head into the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs.
“I think this is definitely what we’re capable of doing. We haven’t been able to go out and dominate a race like that. The potential has been there from Day One.”
Joe Gibbs Praises Briscoe’s Speed and Work Ethic
Team owner Joe Gibbs praised Briscoe’s mix of talent, consistency, and strong character as he heads into the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs.
“I think he is gaining confidence as he goes. But I think the one thing that we all know in this sport, you look for speed. The fact that he’s been on, I think, five poles, and he’s really, really been fast,” Gibbs said.
Gibbs also highlighted Briscoe’s ability to balance focus on the track with family life.
“Like tonight starting up front, then to kind of dominate the race. I think what he showed is great speed. I think he’s really hard-working. Great person. Great family guy. He and Marissa are with their three kids now. It’s a thrill to see somebody like that. He’s 30. For him to have fought that long to be in the sport,” Gibbs added.
As the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs continue, all eyes will be on Briscoe to see if he can carry this momentum forward, potentially disrupting the final four and shaking up the championship race.
For now, Briscoe’s combination of speed, consistency, and determination has firmly placed him in the spotlight as one of NASCAR’s rising stars.
