Nicolas Jackson may yet leave Chelsea on transfer deadline day with his move to Bayern Munich potentially back on.

The striker was all set to join the German champions on Saturday after Bayern agreed a £13million loan deal, which included an option to buy for £56.3m.

But soon after flying to Munich, Chelsea cancelled the deal and ordered Jackson to return to London after Liam Delap suffered a hamstring injury in the 2-0 win over Fulham.

The Blues fear Delap could be out for the long-term, which would leave Joao Pedro as their only senior striker.

Bayern were left with little choice but to accept this but it is said Jackson was left furious at the situation and he and his agent Ali Barat have stayed put in an attempt to resurrect the transfer.

Since then, Chelsea have recalled Marc Guiu from his loan at Sunderland to prove cover at No.9, and now seem willing to let Jackson depart, just two years after he moved to Stamford Bridge for £32m.

However, they are no longer willing to let Jackson depart on the terms that were previously agreed and instead they will only sanction a permanent transfer or a loan deal with an obligation to buy, something that Bayern seemed very reluctant to do.

It was said that they had given up on Jackson and were now targeting Atalanta winger Ademola Lookman.

But according to Standard Sport, talks have re-opened between all parties and there is growing optimism from Bayern Munich’s end that a deal can be agreed before the 7pm deadline on Monday.

Chelsea’s treatment of Jackson over the past few days was fiercely criticised by former player Frank Leboeuf: ‘Nicolas Jackson is a human being. He’s not an object.

‘He’s not something you put in the cupboard and when you need it, you get it back out. No, it doesn’t work that way.

‘You don’t want him, you think he’s not good enough for your team, you get rid of him. Even if it’s on loan, it’s because you don’t think he’s good enough to play for you.

‘So therefore, don’t call him back when you have an injury. That’s not fair. That is for me, absolutely disrespectful.’
