Chiefs Addition is Already Looking Like a Stud at Camp

The Kansas City Chiefs had a busy offseason, as always, and now, they’re officially back at camp, working out any kinks before the Chiefs’ regular 2025-26 season kicks in. There are under two months to go until the Chiefs play their first game of the regular season, so this is that important part right before the start of the season when the team can get back together, work on their chemistry and welcome new players into the fold.

Thankfully, the Chiefs are building on what’s already a great team. As everyone knows, they’ve won multiple Super Bowls in the past several years and made it back to the big game last season, only to fall to the Eagles. Now, they’re back for revenge. Actually, revenge is a bad work. They’re back for redemption.

Now, one Chiefs draft pick is already showing off his stuff at training camp. He could be a significant part of the future of the franchise.

Kansas City Chiefs Rookie is Breaking Out

That rookie is Josh Simmons, who is already looking amazing on the field. In a piece published on Wednesday, July 30, Lyle Graversen of Arrowhead Addict says that Simmons “is already displaying his elite upside early in Chiefs training camp.”

“I attended practice on Sunday and Monday, which were the Chiefs’ first two days in full pads,” Graversen noted in the piece. “Right away on Sunday, I camped out where I could see the offensive line warm up. While it’s just warm-ups, I could immediately see the foot speed and athleticism.”

He added, “Some tackles—Orlando Brown is a perfect example—have the size and power to play tackle, but their foot speed keeps them from maintaining positioning as a speed rusher works around the edge.”

Graversen also raved about Simmons’ athleticism and natural abilities on the field. Hard work goes a long way, too, and it’s obvious that Simmons is bringing his all to practice.

“When you combine that natural athleticism and lateral movement skills with the strength to hold up against power, you get a player with truly elite upside,” Graversen stated. Elsewhere, he added, “Simmons isn’t a lock to be an All-Pro in the NFL, but he is showing the traits that at least put that result in his range of outcomes.”

People Are Talking About Josh Simmons

Many people in the NFL are noticing Simmons breaking out, too.

33rd Team NFL insider Ari Meirov first commented on Simmons on July 27, stating, “Early storyline out of Chiefs camp: Rookie OT Josh Simmons has been a standout through one week of camp — and it could potentially shift the competition to the right side, where Jaylon Moore and Jawaan Taylor rotated today, per local reports. Simmons has been holding firm on the left.” Meirov continued, adding that even thought it’s still early, “if KC found their future LT at pick 32… that would be enormous.”

FOX Sports NFL insider Jordan Schultz has also raved about Simmons, stating on July 28, “Spoke to a Chiefs source today about rookie Josh Simmons. The team has been impressed with him all summer, and he’s on track to start at left tackle in Week 1, protecting Patrick Mahomes’ blindside.”
