Chiefs And NFL Suspected Of ‘Conspiracy’ After Rashee Rice News

The Kansas City Chiefs got some comparatively excellent news on Thursday when they found out that receiver, Rashee Rice, would be available for the first month of the season after his disciplinary hearing was postponed until September 30.

However, this lead to some people – in this case media analyst/broad speculator, Mike Florio – believing that there could be more to the story than initially reported.

In a caption on a post on X linking his article on the matter, Florio compares the situations of Rice and Jordan Addison, who received a three game suspension earlier this month.

“Jordan Addison and Rashee Rice pleaded guilty THE SAME DAY.” Florio wrote in the caption, “Addison will miss the first three games of the season. Rice will be available for four (and likely five) high-profile games. Source: “Maybe I’m a conspiracy theorist, but this is odd.”

Mike Florio And Source Believes Something May Be Up With Rice’s Suspension

Florio and co.’s core assertion is that because the Chiefs are playing in either prime-time or time-slots with limited games (4.25PM ET on Sunday) for the first four months of the season, the NFL deliberately postponed the suspension.

Considering Rice’s suspension delay in comparison to Addison, it certainly seems like there is something to his theory.

Indeed, Dan Graziano reports that the reasons given for the late sentencing of Rice only serve to bolster evidence that there is some dodgy work at play from the powers at be, claiming that the September 30 date was chosen solely because as it accommodated the schedule of Sue L. Robinson, who is presiding over the matter.

Chiefs Risk Increasing ‘Rigged’ Allegations After Questionable Sentencing

It could be nothing – and it may well turn out that there were legitimately just scheduling conflicts and the NFL bureaucracy once again got into it’s own way.

But “fits into her schedule” is arguably the weakest conceivable excuse for not making a critical decision on a suspension that could have an impact on crucial games early on – and subsequently later on in the season.

Indeed, with Kansas City already facing multiple – albeit baseless – fan allegations of being rigged by the league to win the AFC, the last thing the franchise needs is more attention on how they may have circumvented the NFL’s rules – or how the league may have done so on their behalf.

Nothing is conclusive at this point, but it is definitely as suspicious double standard for two teams that have different meanings and values to the NFL.
