Chiefs’ Josh Simmons Injury Update Sparks Major Concerns

There’s no sugarcoating it; the Kansas City Chiefs’ Week 13 loss to the Dallas Cowboys was a nightmare, and the Josh Simmons injury news only amplifies this disaster.

“Chiefs LT Josh Simmons has a cast on his left wrist, and his arm is in a sling,” KC Star beat reporter Pete Sweeney relayed after the integral offensive lineman left the Thanksgiving Day game.

Later, NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reported that “LT Josh Simmons, who impressed against the Cowboys before exiting with an injury, suffered a dislocated and fractured wrist, sources say,” sparking major concerns around Chiefs Kingdom.

Rapoport added that Simmons “left the stadium in a cast and is out indefinitely,” and that he’ll undergo an MRI on November 28.

This update was also confirmed by ESPN’s Chiefs insider Nate Taylor, who reported the same injury news as Rapoport.

The KC offense struggled at times during Simmons’ long hiatus away from the team. And it certainly won’t help quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs run the table if their left tackle is sidelined.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid didn’t provide too much of an injury update on the rookie after the game, as he simply noted that “Josh Simmons hurt his wrist.” We’ll see if more information surfaces on Simmons on November 28.

Chiefs LT Josh Simmons’ Breakout Rookie Season Has Been Derailed by Unavailability & Injury News

Josh Simmons injury update news after Chiefs' Week 13 loss to Cowboys.

GettyKansas City Chiefs left tackle Josh Simmons suffered an injury in Week 13.

After the first five weeks of the 2025 campaign, Simmons looked like one of the most impactful rookies around the NFL — then things took a turn.

Simmons missed the next several weeks due to an undisclosed reason as he attended to a family emergency. The Chiefs have yet to reveal the exact cause of this absence.

In Week 11, Simmons finally returned, although they were unable to win in Denver. He started the Week 12 overtime victory over Indianapolis, too, logging a whopping 96 offensive snaps!

Unfortunately, after the latest injury news, it appears the Chiefs could be without Simmons once again, as the breakout rookie season continues to be derailed by unavailability.

Andy Reid Provides Week 13 Injury Updates After Chiefs Lose to Cowboys

Along with the update on Simmons, Reid shared two more bits of injury news after the Chiefs lost to the Cowboys.

“I’ve got a couple of injuries here,” Reid said. “[Safety] Bryan Cook sprained his right ankle [and right tackle] Jawaan Taylor hurt his tricep.”

Reid referred to Taylor’s tricep injury as a “strain.”

With right guard Trey Smith already out, and Simmons and Taylor now potentially joining him, this Chiefs’ offensive line is in dire straits. And there couldn’t be a worse Week 14 matchup on the schedule, considering this news.

The Houston Texans flaunt one of the most ferocious units of pass rushers in football, and star edge defenders Will Anderson and Danielle Hunter lead the way. Needless to say, it’s not a great time to possibly be without both of your starting offensive tackles.

Especially when Kansas City cannot afford another defeat, and a loss to the Texans would surely seal their fate in the AFC wildcard race.

The Chiefs will have a few extra days to rest and recover after the short week. Hopefully, that’ll be enough to get back one or two of their starting offensive linemen.
