Chiefs Make Final Call on Xavier Worthy, Kingsley Suamataia vs. Colts

The Kansas City Chiefs revealed their final Week 12 inactive decisions ahead of a pivotal matchup with the Indianapolis Colts.

The Chiefs’ social media team relayed the moves on X, which listed the following players as “out” for Week 12.

While none of these inactive choices are that surprising, it’s the names not on the list that stand out. As expected, wide receiver Xavier Worthy is officially good to go against the Colts.

Similarly, left guard Kingsley Suamataia has been cleared for the Week 12 battle, and he’s expected to suit up and start in this game. Both Worthy and Suamataia were originally designated as “questionable” with injuries after Pacheco was ruled out on Friday.

Worthy is ready to go for the Chiefs in Week 12 versus the Colts. And that means head coach Andy Reid and quarterback Patrick Mahomes will have their full complement of wide receivers once again.

Reid was criticized for his usage of playmakers like Worthy and Rashee Rice in Week 11, so we’ll see if Kansas City can get its offense back on track with everyone healthy at wide receiver.

Of course, the backfield is not as “full strength” as the WR corps. Pacheco will not suit up again on November 23, and that means Kareem Hunt will get another start against Indianapolis.

The Chiefs also chose to roll with rookie Brashard Smith and practice squad veteran Clyde Edwards-Helaire behind Hunt, rather than Mitchell.

Chiefs Elevate Clyde Edwards-Helaire Over Elijah Mitchell

KSHB 41 beat reporter Nick Jacobs reported the Chiefs’ lone practice squad elevation on November 22, informing: “The Chiefs have given RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire a standard elevation from their practice squad ahead of the Colts game on Sunday.”

It’s the second time that KC has chosen “CEH” over Mitchell since Pacheco’s injury, and fans didn’t seem to support the decision on social media.

“Ah yes, a backfield of Kareem Hunt, Brashard Smith, and CEH,” Kansas City podcaster Garrett Williams commented. “I’m sure the Colts will anticipate a run-heavy game from the Chiefs.”

A fan agreed, writing: “The Chiefs are doing Elijah Mitchell so dirty.”

And another said, “RIP Elijah Mitchell’s career with the Chiefs.”

Finally, a fan questioned the Mitchell addition overall, noting: “🤔 Mitchell is an expensive bench player.”

Along with Edwards-Helaire over Mitchell, the Chiefs chose to dress veteran free agent signing Kristian Fulton over Joshua Williams at cornerback. Fulton has missed most of the season with injury, and he’s struggled at times since returning.

Despite that, the KC coaching staff has reiterated that they brought Fulton in to play him, not to sit him on gamedays.

Morris is another player who is trending downward in the eyes of this coaching staff. The former swing tackle turned backup right tackle is now inactive for a crucial matchup against the Colts. That shows he’s now falling out of favor with Reid and the Chiefs’ decision-makers.

Lastly, youngsters Royals and Wiley continue to sit as they profile as developmental pieces going forward. We’ll see if that changes in the coming weeks.
