Protesters stormed the 18th green at TPC River Highlands in Connecticut on Sunday, disrupting the final round of the Travelers Championship.

The incident happened just as the final group of Scottie Scheffler, Tom Kim and Akshay Bhatia arrived on the green and marked their balls.

Kim was facing a 10-foot putt for birdie and a potential play-off with Scheffler, who had a one-shot lead over Kim.

The protesters set off smoke bombs and dumped white and red powdery substances on the green.

‘They just came flying down the hill, right out of the gallery,’ said CBS announcer Jim Nantz.

Four of the protestors were wearing white T-shirts which read: ‘NO GOLF ON A DEAD PLANET.’

Police quickly ran towards the protestors before tackling them to the ground and arresting them.

The protestors were led away to chants of ‘USA’ from the crowd.
