Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders does not mind having a little fun at his own expense as the NFL legend recently referenced the divorce with his second ex-wife Pillar Sanders. Coach Prime went viral for a clip filmed during a team meeting weeks before the college football season.
Sanders was asking players and coaches for things the group had celebrated throughout the week. Colorado offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur revealed that he celebrated his 35th wedding anniversary with wife Jennifer Shurmur.
“Sunday was my celebration of my second divorce,” Sanders quipped in response to Shurmur.
Sanders can be seen with a smile before offering a fist pump after delivering the joke.
Sanders and his second wife divorced on June 28, 2013. The Colorado coach and first wife Carolyn Chambers previously divorced in 1998 during his NFL career.

It is not all bad news for Coach Prime as there have been some surprising developments for Sanders as he continues to battle cancer. Sanders received a visit from Chambers who prayed for him as the coach is going through his latest health challenges.
“Just to have (Sanders’ oldest son) Bucky’s mother come over to the crib before we left and pray for me, man,” Sanders told former Dallas Cowboys teammate Michael Irvin during a July 30, interview, per Athlon Sports’ Rowan Fisher-Shotton.
“Can you understand that? The wife that you’ve been at odds with before comes over and prays for me. Like ‘I want to pray for you before you leave because I know what you’ve been going through’… It’s a beautiful thing.”
Deion Sanders Has Been Linked to Rumored Girlfriend Karrueche Tran Who Is an Actress
Sanders’ personal life has drawn extra attention as the Colorado coach has been spotted with actress Karrueche Tran. Coach Prime was spotted with Tran in a video released documenting Sanders’ recent battle with cancer.
Tran has appeared in a number of notable shows and films including “The Chi,” “Claws,” and “Jay and Silent Bob Reboot.” During Sanders’ video entitled “For Your Glory” documenting his recent health challenges, Tran can be seen processing the news of the coach’s diagnosis plus surgery.
“We are dealing with bladder cancer,” Tran said on the video, per People.com. “He is having his bladder removed and they will create a new bladder with one of his intestines.”
“… (Surgery is the best option) because it fully removes the cancer to ensure it doesn’t come back, because it was close to his muscle.”
Deion Sanders’ Health Update: Coach Prime Beat Bladder Cancer
During the college football offseason, Sanders opened up on his bout with bladder cancer. After having surgery to remove his cancerous bladder, Sanders revealed he is cancer free, but his life has changed as evidenced by the port-a-potty on the Colorado sideline during games.
“I’m trying to help somebody that’s going through the same,” Sanders noted on the Colorado Football Coaches Show on September 10, per USA Today. “It’s amazing that everywhere I go, someone comes up to me and tells me about a family member or friend that has the exact same thing, and ‘Thank you for being vocal about it,’ because they’re dealing with that right now. It’s been at least several people since I’ve come back.”
