Colts $14 Million Signing Receives Bold Prediction Before Week 2

Quarterback Daniel Jones had a good debut for the Indianapolis Colts in their 33-8 season opener victory against the Miami Dolphins. Jones threw for 272 passing yards and a touchdown pass, and was a threat with his feet, rushing for 2 touchdowns.

“It felt good to get a win, for sure,” Jones said, via ESPN. “Some things to clean up and work on, but I think everyone on our team’s mature enough, knows enough that we’ve got to continue to grow and improve. The best teams in the league continue to build on success and improve.”

Jones’ 272 passing yards were his highest in a game since Week 4 of the 2024-25 season against the Dallas Cowboys when he threw 281 yards. In the same game, the QB had an interception and no TD passes.

While his performance is positive in his one-year tenure with the Colts, some weren’t impressed. ESPN’s Ben Solak called Jones’ debut for Indianapolis a “classic point guard game.”

CBS Sports’ Garrett Podell believes that Jones’ performance in Week 1 isn’t a fluke and that the QB will shine in Week 2.

Daniel Jones Predicted To Play Well

The Indianapolis Colts will face their first team that appeared in the playoffs last season this upcoming Sunday.

The Denver Broncos are coming off a 20-12 win against number 2025 first overall pick Cam Ward and the Tennessee Titans.

Podell predicts that Daniel Jones will have another solid performance for the organization against the Broncos, pulling off the upset.

“Almost no one except perhaps Daniel Jones himself thought the New York Giants castoff would play well, let alone dominate like he did as the Indianapolis Colts’ starting quarterback,” Podell wrote. “Jones is going to ball out again and lead the Colts to a 2-0 start with an upset victory over the Broncos.”

“Offensively, the Broncos appear quite beatable following quarterback Bo Nix’s struggles in Denver’s 20-12 Week 1 win against the Tennessee Titans. ”

The Indianapolis Colts are looking for their first 2-0 start since the 2009 season.

Garrett Podell lists the two main keys for the Colts to get their second win of the season, which heavily incorporates the run game.

“Indianapolis will lean on Pro Bowl running back Jonathan Taylor early to set up the play-action pass for Jones and Co. He completed 8 of his 11 play-action throws for 121 yards (11 yards per pass attempt) in Week 1,” Podell wrote.

“Jones and Taylor will drive the Colts offense to enough success over Denver, and Nix’s struggles will continue as Indianapolis topples Denver’s domineering defense.”

Taylor ran for 73 yards in the season opener and could see more reps in the game with Denver’s pass rush being a threat to his QB.

Pro Football Focus gave Daniel Jones a 72.8 overall grade for his performance in the game against the Dolphins, which could show how well he is incorporated into the Colts’ offense.
