Colts Named Fit For Three-Time All-Pro Defender

The Indianapolis Colts are off to a hot 5-1 record for the first time since the 2009 season.

The Colts‘ offense has scored at least 29 points in each of their victories this season, but only managed 20 points in their first loss of the season so far.

$14 million signing Daniel Jones is looking well worthy the price tag, running back Jonathan Taylor currently leads the league in rushing yards, rookie tight end Tyler Warren is looking like a steal even though he was the 14th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and veteran wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr hauling in four touchdown receptions, which tied for sixth most in the league.

Indy’s defense has been able to hold two opponents to less than 10 points this season, but in the other four games has allowed more than 20 points each.

The Colts have multiple key defensive players on injured reserve who would be vital to this impressive Indianapolis team. The team needs to address the lack of players at certain positions. One NFL analyst names the Colts as a fit for a three-time All-Pro player who can fill in the positions.

Jamal Adams Named Fit For Indy

The Indianapolis Colts currently have three linebackers on IR who were set to become big parts of the defense this season, including second-year player Jaylon Carlies.

To help overcome the lack of players in the defense, Pro Football Focus’ Bradley Locker names safety-turned-linebacker Jamal Adams of the Las Vegas Raiders as a fit for the AFC South leaders.

“Amid the Raiders’ floundering start, Adams has surprisingly enjoyed a career resurgence. Now playing mostly as a linebacker, the former [New York] Jets star has earned an 80.0 overall PFF grade on 132 snaps. He’s flourished in coverage with a 78.7 PFF coverage grade and only 47 yards allowed on 70 coverage snaps, plus has contributed eight stops,” Locker wrote.

“Playing 23 or more snaps in the box, slot or along the defensive line, Adams is a versatile asset who could boost teams looking for linebacker or safety help.”

Adams has featured in all six games for the Raiders this season, logging 18 tackles for the 2-4 team. A move to Indy could entice the former All-Pro, as he would have a better opportunity to make the playoffs.

Would The Colts Make The Move?

The Colts are looking more and more like contenders instead of pretenders with each week passing.

Even with the number of defensive players on IR, the Indianapolis Colts still battled their way to a 5-1 record.

While adding Jamal Adams could benefit two position groups, the team is doing just fine without him.

Head coach Shane Steichen and defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo can wait for their players to get to 100% health. If Indy waits for a player to return from IR, they would get someone who already knows the system, something Adams would need to catch up on.
