Colts QB Daniel Jones Breaks Silence on Brutal Injury With Instagram Message

After resurrecting his NFL career with the Indianapolis Colts during the 2025 NFL season, proving that he can still be a starting quarterback in this league, veteran gunslinger Daniel Jones is facing a tough challenge ahead after suffering a devastating season-ending Achilles injury.

With Jones done for the season and set to embark on a long recovery process from an injury that all professional athletes dread, the future remains uncertain for the veteran journeyman, as he’s on a one-year deal with the Colts, which will expire after the 2025 campaign.

Daniel Jones Shows Appreciation for ‘Overwhelming Support’

On Thursday, Jones took to social media to show his appreciation for all the support he’s received in the aftermath of his season-ending injury.

“Thank you to my teammates, coaches, the Colts organization, and all the fans for the overwhelming support,” Jones said in the caption of his Instagram post. “Tough way to end this season but it has been an honor to wear the horseshoe and play for Colts fans. I’ll miss lining up with my guys, but I’ll be riding with them every step of the way. Go Colts!”

Before suffering the Achilles injury that will end his 2025 campaign, Jones seemed to be well on his way to securing a long-term deal with the Colts, as he far exceeded expectations after signing a one-year contract with the team during the offseason.

Only time will tell what the future holds for Jones with the Colts and in the NFL, for that matter.

Jones’ season comes to an end after throwing for 3,101 yards, 19 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He also rushed for five touchdowns and 164 yards on 45 carries.

Colts Still Weighing Decision on Philip Rivers for Week 15

With Jones done for the season due to the Achilles injury, the Colts made a move that no one saw coming, as they convinced Philip Rivers to come out of retirement to finish the rest of the season.

The real question now is who will be the Colts’ starting quarterback heading into Week 15’s crucial matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.

As of Friday morning, the team has yet to decide on who will be under center, according to Stephen Holder of ESPN.

However, it seems as though Rivers is trending toward being under center as the team’s starter against the Seahawks in Week 15 on the road at Lumen Field.

If Rivers ultimately doesn’t get the nod to start against the Seahawks, the team will likely turn to Riley Leonard or potentially Brett Rypien. Anthony Richardson isn’t an option, as he is currently on injured reserve.

The Colts already had their work cut out for them against the Seahawks, who are arguably one of the best all-around teams in the NFL right now, riding a three-game win streak heading into this game.

There’s no telling what the Colts will get out of Rivers if he is given the green light on Sunday in Seattle, as it would’ve been tough to get the best of the Seahawks even if Jones hadn’t gotten hurt.
