One of the dangers that comes with playing through injuries is the stress that it puts on the rest of your body. Indianapolis Colts quarterback Daniel Jones entered Sunday playing through a broken left leg for the second straight week.
Unfortunately for Jones, he was unable to make it through the first quarter against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
“#Colts QB Daniel Jones hobbled off the field with a lower leg injury, a non-contact one,” wrote Ian Rapaport on X. “Jones is dealing with a fractured fibula, but this is the other leg. Riley Leonard is the backup.”
The injury was an assuming one as the starting quarterback stood slightly outside the pocket and threw a pass into the flats on third-and-short before falling to the ground on his own.
After falling down, Jones immediately reached for his plant leg. He grabbed his ankle and slammed his helmet to the ground.
Not long after that, the quarterback was seen walking to the locker room under his own power.
Just a few minutes later, news broke that Jones would be out for the remainder of the game with an Achilles injury.
No timetable has been announced so far, but injuries of this kind are usually season-ending.
A brutal break for the Colts, who were playing for sole possession of first place in the AFC South today.
