Colts Rule Out 6-Foot-3 Edge Ahead Of Pivotal AFC South Clash

The Indianapolis Colts kicked off the season with a historically good 7-1 run in the first two months. They have returned to Earth, losing three of their last four games. However, it can all be made better on Sunday with a massive game against the 8-4 Jacksonville Jaguars, who are challenging the Colts for first place in the AFC South.

The Colts will be going to battle without six-foot-three edge rusher Tyquan Lewis, who has already missed three games this season.

Lewis has three sacks in nine games played this season. All three came in the first five games of the year before missing more than a month, spanning the end of October and beginning of November.

He played just 15 of the 96 possible snaps in the overtime loss to the Kansas City Chiefs after returning to the lineup. Lewis saw more snaps against the Houston Texans last Sunday, but has been on the injury report with an ankle ailment all week.

He has now been downgraded to out and will not be able to help Indy in rainy Duval County.

Weather Might Favor Indianapolis In Jacksonville

The forecast is predicting a classic north Florida shower on Sunday afternoon. While Colts fans might just be glad it’s not snow, 60-degree rain could spell trouble for both teams’ passing games.

However, if the game script is sent to the ground, it might favor Indianapolis.

Jonathan Taylor is the NFL’s leading rusher, as nobody has been able to stop head coach Shane Steichen’s intricate run design. No one team has rushed for more touchdowns or yards per attempt than Indianapolis has.

Compare this to the Jaguars, who, despite winning in blowout fashion over the Tennessee Titans, could hardly muster up 70 rushing yards.

Travis Etienne was the leading rusher, taking 12 carries for 28 yards with a measly long of six. Their lead-back averaged less than 2.5 yards per carry.

Jacksonville’s change-of-pace guy, rookie Brayshul Tuten, had an even rougher day at the office. Tuten took his eight carries for just 17 yards against the NFL’s worst team. The rookie averaged 2.1 yards per carry.

Jacksonville will lean on its rushing defense, which sits atop the league, allowing just 82.4 yards per game.
