Colts To Host Tryout For Legendary Phillip Rivers, Who Is A Grandfather Now

The Indianapolis Colts are pulling out all the stops to try and save their playoff-bound season. After starting the season 7-1, the Colts endured a 1-4 skid that saw their starting quarterback, Daniel Jones, who was having an MVP-caliber season, go down with a torn Achilles.

That was all Indianapolis had to see before calling in the big guns, 44-year-old potential future Hall of Fame quarterback Phillip Rivers.

The #Colts are planning to bring potential Hall of Fame QB Philip Rivers into their facility Tuesday to work out to see if he may join their practice squad, per me & @MikeGarafolo,” Ian Rapaport reported first on X. “This is real. Daniel Jones’ season is over, Riley Leonard will start, but Rivers may be an option.”

Rivers, of course, ended his outstanding NFL career with a one-year stint with the Indianapolis Colts. The then 39-year-old quarterback threw for more than 4,000 yards and 24 touchdowns in his 17th season in the NFL.

In a season that has seen the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs each fall to 6-7, the Dallas Cowboys trade one of the faces of the league in Micah Parsons, and the 4-13 New England Patriots rise to the first seed in the AFC with four weeks to play, the Indianapolis Colts now take the cake for the craziest story of 2025.
