The Washington Commanders have entered a multi-year partnership with BigBear.ai. Â The move strengthens the teamâs operations, expands its community presence, and connects the franchise with one of the regionâs most innovative companies. As part of the agreement, the Commandersâ Ashburn, Virginia, training complex has been renamed the BigBear.ai Performance Center.
The 162-acre facility already ranks among the NFLâs most complete training environments. The grounds feature four outdoor grass fields, an indoor turf field, a draft room, team meeting spaces, extensive weight and recovery areas, and a full in-house content studio. With naming rights now secured, the Commandersâ state-of-the-art home base will carry the identity of a company recognized nationally for mission-ready artificial intelligence solutions across defense, security, and critical infrastructure.
Kevin McAleenan, CEO of BigBear.ai, called the partnership bold and forward-thinking.
âBigBear.ai is going on offense, and this partnership exemplifies our strategy,â McAleenan said. âWe are stepping onto the national stage with one of the NFLâs most recognized franchises, an organization that shares our deep dedication to innovation and excellence. Our partnership marks the first in a series of decisive moves we are taking to strengthen our position and unlock the next chapter of growth.â
The Commanders will formally unveil the BigBear.ai Performance Center later this season. A milestone in the organizationâs ongoing modernization and push to expand its presence both locally and nationally.
Branding, Innovation, and Fan Engagement
Beyond naming rights, the collaboration ensures that BigBear.ai branding will become a visible part of the fan experience. The companyâs logo will appear across the fifth-floor suite level at Northwest Stadium, on suite entrances, practice jerseys, and other team assets. The exposure underscores how closely the two organizations are aligned on and off the field.
Mark Clouse, President of the Washington Commanders, emphasized how the partnership reflects shared priorities.
âWe are excited to partner with BigBear.ai, an organization that shares our commitment to excellence, community impact, and long-term growth,â Clouse said. âBigBear.ai has been a proud part of this region, delivering innovation and impact from right here in our own backyard. We have been focused on building momentum across every facet of the organization, and our partnership represents the next step in advancing performance, progress, and meaningful engagement with our fans and community.â
The deal also opens the door for BigBear.ai to explore ways its technology can elevate the fan experience, within the framework of NFL guidelines. From predictive analytics to AI-driven insights, fans may soon benefit from tech-forward innovations that enhance how they engage with the Commanders on game days.
Both organizations showcased their new alliance in New York on August 20, 2025, when representatives from the Commanders and BigBear.ai jointly rang the Opening Bell at the New York Stock Exchange. The ceremony placed the Commanders on Wall Streetâs stage and underscored BigBear.aiâs role as an industry leader ready to expand its influence.
A Partnership Rooted in Growth
For Washington, the partnership represents more than corporate branding. It reflects a larger strategy to invest in infrastructure, strengthen its community presence, and connect with fans through partnerships grounded in innovation and progress.
For BigBear.ai, the move highlights confidence and ambition. It signals the companyâs commitment to step beyond its traditional defense and infrastructure markets and engage with millions of sports fans on a cultural level.
The BigBear.ai Performance Center is more than a new name for the Commandersâ headquarters. It is a symbol of growth, innovation, and the blending of sports and technology, marking a new chapter for both the team and its newest partner.
