Commanders’ President Breaks Silence on Donald Trump Rumor

The Washington Commanders have endured a nightmare campaign so far in 2025, and things didn’t get any better for them in Week 9. As if getting blown out wasn’t bad enough, the team also lost star quarterback Jayden Daniels to a gruesome elbow injury that could ultimately end his season prematurely.

While the Commanders are reeling when it comes to all of the injuries they have dealt with this season, the NFL waits for no one. As a result, the team has to prepare for its upcoming contest in Week 10, and with reports emerging that the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, will be in attendance for this game, Washington opted to break the silence on these rumors.

Commanders Confirm Donald Trump Will Attend Week 10 Clash vs. Lions

Hopes were high for the Commanders in the 2025 season after their run to the NFC Championship Game last season. Through nine games, though the team has just a 3-6 record, and with a difficult schedule lying ahead, it looks like their postseason hopes are fading rapidly, especially with Daniels suffering yet another injury.

The good news for Washington is that it has a competent backup in Marcus Mariota, who has proven he can lead the team to wins. The problem is that, with so many other players injured, it has made his task all the more difficult. With that in mind, taking down a talented Detroit Lions team in Week 10 is going to be a tough challenge for Mariota and the rest of the squad.

On Friday, the Commanders’ matchup with the Lions became a bit more intriguing when it was reported that Trump was planning on attending the game. Sure enough, it was quickly confirmed by the team that Trump would be at this game as part of Washington’s Salute to Service initiative for the month of November.

“We are honored to welcome President Trump to the game as we celebrate those who have served and continue to serve our country,” Commanders President Mark Clouse said in a statement. “The entire Commanders organization is proud to participate in the NFL’s league-wide Salute to Service initiative, recognizing the dedication and sacrifice of our nation’s veterans, active-duty service members, and their families this Sunday.”

Trump’s presence at this game will certainly turn some heads, as it’s not often that the President of the United States makes his way out for sporting events. With the league continuing to look to give back to veteran and active-duty military personnel and their families, having Trump attend should only help the league’s Salute to Service initiative.

On the field, this is going to be a battle for the Commanders. The Lions just suffered an upset defeat in Week 9 at the hands of the Minnesota Vikings, and they will be intent on ensuring that doesn’t happen again this weekend. Kickoff for this game is scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET on Sunday afternoon.
