It will hardly register on anyone’s radar in the wake of the blockbuster trade that sent Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers, but the Dallas Cowboys parted ways with another popular player in an additional roster move on Aug. 28.
First, the Cowboys claimed guard Trevor Keegan off waivers, as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Keegan was waived a day before being picked up by the Cowboys by a division rival the Philadelphia Eagles.
In a corresponding move, Dallas waived wide receiver Ryan Flournoy, a sixth-round pick from 2024, to make room for Keegan. The Cowboys only have four receivers remaining on the roster.

Trevor Keegan Won National Championship at Michigan, Super Bowl with Eagles
Keegan, the 6-foot-5 Michigan product was taken by the Eagles in the fifth round of the 2024 draft. He made Philly’s initial 53-man roster this season but was waived on Aug. 27.
In college, Keegan was named to the first-team All-Big Ten in 2022 and second-team All-Big Ten in 2023, before winning a national championship with the Wolverines in 2023.
Prior to the 2022 season, Keegan’s weight was a concern and the guard lost over 30 pounds before playing his best football.
The Eagles grabbed Keegan in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft with the 172nd pick. He went on to win a Super Bowl that season in a backup role, as Philly knocked off the Kansas City Chiefs 40–22 in Super Bowl LIX.
Claimed off waivers, Keegan heads straight to the Cowboys’ 53-man roster. He’ll add depth to the interior offensive line alongside Brock Hoffman and T.J. Bass, while Saahdiq Charles remains on the practice squad.
Keegan took some reps at center for Philly during the offseason, but the reviews on his performance there were pretty lukewarm.
The Cowboys projected starting lineup for the offensive line is: Tyler Guyton, Tyler Smith, Cooper Beebe, Tyler Booker and Terence Steele.
Ryan Flournoy was a ‘Freak’ in College who Shined with Cowboys
Flournoy, a promising second-year receiver out of Southeast Missouri State, initially made the Cowboys roster after an impressive training camp. He particularly shined on special teams, but he was waived to make room for Keegan.
In college, Flournoy made first-team all-conference in 2022 and 2023, despite injuring his hand his senior year. He was named to the The Athletic’s “Freaks List” prior to 2023 season, recognized as an exceptional athletic talent.

Flournoy played in 11 games for the Cowboys last season, getting one start. He wrapped up his rookie year with 10 catches for 102 yards and was viewed as a young player on the rise at the position.
With Flournoy gone, the Cowboys’ 53-man roster at wide receiver is down to CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, Jalen Tolbert, and KaVontae Turpin.
The Cowboys and Eagles open the entire NFL season in Philadelphia on Sept. 4.
