Cowboys Get More Grim News on Micah Parsons Trade

The start of September brings the unofficial beginning of fall and, of course, football season. The Dallas Cowboys are coming up on what will be a very crucial season for the team, because it will mark their first with new head coach Brian Schottenheimer.

But, of course, the Cowboys have been the brunt of criticism lately, following a blockbuster trade they made with the Green Bay Packers. The Cowboys traded defensive end Micah Parsons in exchange for two first round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark. This was a major move, and it’s been all the talk in the NFL as of late. Parsons was a big asset to the Cowboys, so it’s going to hurt to not have him on the squad. Green Bay is paying him in the form of a four-year, $188 million dollar extension.

Now, the latest bit of Parsons news could make those in the Cowboys’ camp even angrier at this trade. Hopefully it’s something the team can overcome, but it’s certainly brought down the morale, at least for now.

Micah Parsons Update is Not Good for the Dallas Cowboys

Parsons has been dealing with an injury that kept him out of practice before his trade to the Green Bay Packers. Now, ESPN’s Adam Schefter has given an interesting update about the edge rusher’s injured back, and it might make some Cowboys fume.

Schefter said that Parsons is dealing with a sprain in his back that could require an epidural to play in the Packers’ Week 1 game against the Detroit Lions. He also discussed what the Cowboys were doing to help treat the injury before the trade.

“Before trading Parsons last week, the Cowboys prescribed him a five-day plan of an anti-Inflammatory corticosteroid, a prednisone to help him recover from back tightness,” Schefter said in a post on X sent out on Monday, September 1. “They also had him on a physical therapy program.”

He added, “Parsons has been practicing this week and he is trying to play in Sunday’s opener vs. the Lions, though one source said it still is uncertain if he will.”

Interesting Timing on Micah Parsons Update

Schefter is just reporting what he’s being told on the inside, but it sure seems like they’re trying to make excuses for Parsons not practicing with the Cowboys but suddenly being able to practice once he was in Green Bay. Of course, many think he was upset with the Cowboys and Jerry Jones so refused to practice, which would also explain why he was available as soon as he landed in Green Bay.

Either way, it’s frustrating for the Dallas Cowboys that Parsons was off the field with an injury, as he says, and then able to practice with the Packers. It’s also interesting that this update from Schefter came just hours after some videos circulated of Parsons practicing with the Packers and looking really healthy and ready to go, so it’s almost as if they had to try to do some damage control.

The whole trade is something of a mess at this point, and there are frustrated people on both sides. Hopefully the Cowboys and Packers can put it behind them and have successful seasons. Reach out to with your thoughts.
