The Dallas Cowboys were rumored to be interested in a trade for Las Vegas Raiders pass rusher Maxx Crosby ahead of the deadline. The Raiders made it clear that they wouldn’t be trading Crosby, but that doesn’t mean Dallas wouldn’t have jumped on him if Las Vegas was open to a deal.
The Raiders host the Cowboys in Week 11, so head coach Brian Schottenheimer is going to get another up-close look at the star pass rusher. He had some very high praise for Crosby ahead of the Monday Night Football matchup.
“He’s so disruptive,” Schottenheimer said of Crosby on “Cowboys Huddle.” “Another stat that I saw literally right before I walked down here was he’s leading their team in passes defended. So, think about that. It’s usually the DBs or the safeties that are knocking balls down at the line of scrimmage. It’s not, it’s Maxx Crosby. … I love the motor the guy has … the way the guy plays is he plays it the right way. And that’s what you love about the guy. And he is a force that we have to try to neutralize the best we can.”
Could Cowboys Consider Crosby in the Offseason?
It’s easy to understand why the Raiders wouldn’t want to trade Crosby during the season, but anything can happen in the offseason. If Las Vegas embraces a rebuild, Crosby would be their most valuable trade chip.
The Cowboys did trade away a first-round pick for Quinnen Williams, but they still have an extra one from the Micah Parsons deal. If Crosby is available, expect the Cowboys to be interested.
Raiders Talk Cowboys Players
Speaking of Williams, he’ll be making his Cowboys debut against the Raiders this week. The team gave up a lot to get him, so they need him to be an impact player quickly. Raiders head coach Pete Carroll thinks highly of Williams.
“He’s a fantastic player,” Carroll said of Williams. “That’s why they went after him and gave up a lot to get him. And everybody wants a 3-technique, and they’re hard to find, and there’s a handful of guys that really dominate the position. He’s in that group of guys, so he’s going to make them better without question.”
Another player the Raiders need to be thinking about is wide receiver George Pickens. He’s been one of the top wide receivers in the NFL this season. Raiders starting cornerback Eric Stokes played with Pickens in college, so he knows what to expect from the wide receiver.
“Rule number one, you got to hit the ball first,” Stokes said of his advice to Kelly. “Because pretty much he always believes if he lays a hand on that ball, it’s probably going to be his because he got strong hands, aggressive hands. His catch radius is unbelievable. He can make any catch look easy. … I still tell everybody he [can] catch a lot of things you just don’t see the normal person do.”
The Raiders’ defense will have a hard time stopping a strong Cowboys offense, so the offense has to step up.
