Legendary former Dallas Cowboys executive Gil Brandt was voted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in February and will be inducted this August in Canton. On Thursday, as he and his wife drove to visit a friend, they narrowly avoided tragedy.

Brandt shared on his Twitter account that they had missed their turn and were turning around on the next exit when someone shot at their vehicle. His wife, Sarah, was nearly struck.

True story. Sara and I were driving to see a friend in Billings just now, missed our turnoff and turned around at the next exit where someone shot at us. Bullet comes through windshield and just misses Sara. Waiting on police. So, how’s your day going?

Brandt didn’t have any further details to share about any of the particulars but did later share a picture of the two police officers who assisted them.

Talk about a harrowing story and a close encounter nobody wants to experience. We’re just glad that Brandt and his wife are okay.
