The Dallas Cowboys have certainly had some solid games this season, looking back on the team’s November 23 win over the Philadelphia Eagles and Thanksgiving win over the Kansas City Chiefs, but they’re at less than a 1% chance of making the postseason, according to statistics from the NFL. At this point, it’s time for the Cowboys to regroup and get ready for next season, and that party means looking back at key decisions that were made this season, such as trading Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers.
Following the Cowboys’ loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, December 14, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott opened up about the feeling of going from having a three-game winning streak to falling out of playoff contention.
“Yeah, definitely surprised,” Prescott told reporters, according to the team’s official website. “Especially after the bye week and the trades got rolling like we did for those few weeks, and then watch the confidence just skyrocket. [We] stopped teams from scoring at-will, coming back from 21 points. Just a lot of good wins there to be in this position.”
He added, “Just reminds you that every play matters. It’s a hard game. Those guys get paid too. They practice throughout the week and prepare no differently than we do. It’s tough. I’m definitely surprised, hurt, pissed off, frustrated, but all I can do is get better tomorrow.”
Jerry Jones of the Dallas Cowboys Opens Up About Micah Parsons’ Injury
Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones famously traded Parsons to the Packers before the 2025-26 season started. On Monday, December 15, an MRI confirmed that Parsons tore his ACL during the Packers’ 34-26 loss to the Broncos, according to a report from NFL insider Ian Rapoport.
“I may be sidelined, but I am not defeated,” Parsons stated Monday in a post on X. “This injury is my greatest test — a moment God allowed to strengthen my testimony. I believe He walks with me through this storm and chose me for this fight because He knew my heart could carry it.”
He added, “I’m deeply grateful to the Packers organization and my teammates for their unwavering support, love, and belief in me during this season. I trust His timing, His plan, and His purpose. I will rise again.”
OJones finally opened up about the injury on Tuesday, December 16. During an appearance on 105.3 the Fan, Jones had four words to sum up how he felt about the injury, saying, “I’m sad for Micah.”
“I’m sad for Micah. That’s quite a challenge,” he said in full context, according to Jon Machota of The Athletic. “I wish him the very best on his recovery. Michael Irvin said when he had his big surgery during, I think, his second year with the Cowboys, he said he realized what football really did mean to him.”
He added, “And he said the surgery really launched him into the best part of his career, because he got to feel what it might look like not to play again. There’s a lot of ways you can couch this thing. But, Micah, I wish you the very best.”
Dak Prescott Talks Dallas Cowboys Loss
After the loss to the Vikings, Prescott elaborated on what it meant to him and the team, saying, “you’re a professional football player. You have to come to work and give your absolute best, regardless.”
He added, “Unfortunately, I’m sure the playoffs are out of the picture, but it’s about taking pride in who you are as a man, and not only that and your job and everything that’s gotten you to this point.”
