Cowboys Named Top Trade Partner for Browns $57 Million All-Pro

The Dallas Cowboys have one of the best passing offenses in the NFL with Week 7 mostly in the books, averaging just under 269 yards per game through the air.

On the ground, they’ve been average-to-above average, netting just under 122 yards a game. With quarterback Dak Prescott playing lights out right now, some believe it might behoove the Cowboys to bulk up their offensive line to help protect him while also giving the ground game a boost.

The Athletic’s Mike Jones named the Cowboys one of three teams who would benefit from Wyatt Teller’s services. A two-time second-team All-Pro and three-time Pro Bowler, Teller is currently starting at right guard for the Cleveland Browns.

“The disappointing Browns could save some money against the cap by trading off the three-time Pro Bowl selection, who has voidable years left on his deal after this season,” Jones wrote. “Talented interior linemen are hard to come by and teams like the Eagles, Dallas Cowboys and Seattle Seahawks could use the help.”

A Look at Teller’s 8 Years in the NFL

Chiefs trade idea lands Browns guard Wyatt Teller.

GettyCleveland Browns right guard Wyatt Teller was suggested as a trade target for the Dallas Cowboys.

A fifth-round pick by the Buffalo Bills in 2018, he was traded to the Browns a year later and quickly grew into one of the NFL’s most reliable interior linemen. His breakout came in 2020, when he earned second-team All-Pro honors, a feat he repeated in 2021. From 2021 through 2023, he was named to three consecutive Pro Bowls, cementing his status as one of the league’s premier right guards.

Now 29 and in the final year of a four-year, $56.8 million extension he signed in 2021, Teller’s situation in Cleveland has shifted. The Browns have invested heavily in their interior line, drafting former Michigan standout Zak Zinter and signing former Bears second-rounder Teven Jenkins in free agency.

On the field, Teller continues to play at a high level. His calling card has always been his ability to generate movement in the run game, and that hasn’t changed. Pro Football Focus has his 66.8 run block grade ranked 30th out of 110 qualifying guards.

A knee injury limited him for part of the 2024 season, but was durable before that, and he’s been healthy and productive in 2025. That reliability would likely be a big part of his appeal for a team like Dallas, which has dealt with its share of injuries and inconsistency up front in recent years.

What Might a Trade for Cleveland Browns OL Wyatt Teller Cost the Dallas Cowboys?

A trade for Teller very likely wouldn’t cost the Cowboys a massive haul, either. A conditional 2026 fifth-round pick that escalates to a fourth based on snap counts or playoff results would likely get Cleveland’s attention, especially if they’re willing to absorb a small portion of his remaining salary.

For the Cowboys, the question is whether Teller’s addition is even necessary. Rookie Tyler Booker has been starting at right guard, and according to PFF, Booker has been better against the run than Teller has, with his 75.9 run blocking grade ranking 8th out of 110 qualifying guards. It would make little sense for the Cowboys to trade for Teller unless it were for depth, or injury were to strike the O-line. Straight up benching Booker wouldn’t make much sense.

It’s not as if Teller is all that versatile — he hasn’t played more than one snap at any position other than RG since his rookie yer in 2018, when he played 464 snaps at left guard. Thus, it’s difficult to see Dallas making a trade for Teller ahead of the trade deadline, at least right now.
