The Dallas Cowboys have been through an up-and-down season, with a mix of highs and lows, but on Sunday, December 14, the team was, for all practical purposes, eliminated from the playoffs with a loss to the Minnesota Vikings. But, all is not lost, and on Saturday, December 20, the team shared a huge update about cornerback Trevon Diggs.
As the 2025 NFL season winds down, the Cowboys find themselves frustrated at their playoff probability, but they still have every reason to hold their heads high. Dallas has battled through injuries, tough losses and inconsistent performance, yet they’ve kept fighting, week after week. They’re a team that has shown flashes of brilliance, and their veterans, led by the likes of Dak Prescott, continue to play with pride even when the odds aren’t in their favor.
Football is unpredictable, and one game or week can change everything. The Cowboys have been in tight games all season, and they’ve pulled off impressive wins, such as the team’s November 23 win over the Philadelphia Eagles and their Thanksgiving win over the Kansas City Chiefs. But, yes, they sit with a less than 1% chance of making the postseason, according to research from the NFL.
Dallas Cowboys Share Huge Update on Trevon Diggs
On Saturday, December 20, the Cowboys announced that they had activated cornerback Trevon Diggs from the reserve/injured tally. They put cornerback DaRon Bland, who’s dealing with a foot injury, on reserve/injured.
In the same move, the Cowboys Dallas also elevated cornerback Corey Ballentine from the practice squad for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
So, it’s great that Diggs is getting healthy again as the season wraps up. Let’s hope he and the team come back in 2026 stronger than ever.
Dak Prescott Talks Dallas Cowboys Loss to the Vikings
After the Cowboys’ loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, December 14, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott opened up about the feeling of going from having a three-game winning streak to falling out of the postseason.
“Yeah, definitely surprised,” Prescott told reporters, according to the team’s official website. “Especially after the bye week and the trades got rolling like we did for those few weeks, and then watch the confidence just skyrocket. [We] stopped teams from scoring at-will, coming back from 21 points. Just a lot of good wins there to be in this position.”
He added, “Just reminds you that every play matters. It’s a hard game. Those guys get paid too. They practice throughout the week and prepare no differently than we do. It’s tough. I’m definitely surprised, hurt, pissed off, frustrated, but all I can do is get better tomorrow.”
Prescott also said that as a playing the NFL, you have to come to work and give your absolute best, regardless. “Unfortunately, I’m sure the playoffs are out of the picture, but it’s about taking pride in who you are as a man, and not only that and your job and everything that’s gotten you to this point,” he stated. “I know for a lot of guys, it’s just the business of the world, right?”
Even if this season ends without a postseason berth, the Cowboys have laid a foundation of grit and accountability that is needed moving forward. Sometimes pride comes not from where you finish, but from how you keep showing up when the odds say you shouldn’t.
