The Dallas Cowboys may want to make a splash before the NFL trade deadline, but landing one of the league’s best pass rushers won’t come cheap. Cincinnati Bengals star Trey Hendrickson remains one of the most sought-after names on the trade market — and despite increasing interest, the asking price for the three-time Pro Bowler hasn’t budged.
According to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, the Bengals are still holding firm on their demand for a first-round draft pick if they’re going to part ways with the $60 million defensive end.
Bengals Demand First-Round Pick for Trey Hendrickson
Hendrickson, 29, has established himself as one of the NFL’s most consistent pass rushers, recording 17.5 sacks in both 2023 and 2024. Through nine seasons, he’s tallied 81 career sacks and continues to be one of the most disruptive edge defenders in the league.
“League sources say the Bengals are still asking for a first-round pick in any deal for Trey Hendrickson at this time,” Russini reported via X (formerly Twitter) on November 3. “The trade deadline arrives in just over 28 hours, and teams are continuing to call Cincinnati about a number of their players. For now, prices remain high.”
The Cowboys reportedly called the Bengals earlier this season to gauge Hendrickson’s availability but were turned away. Now, after Cincinnati’s latest loss dropped them further down the AFC standings, the door may be slightly more open — though the price remains steep.
Hendrickson is in the final season of a four-year, $60 million contract he signed in 2021 after leaving the New Orleans Saints. Cincinnati’s hesitation to extend him has fueled trade rumors, and multiple contenders are expected to inquire as the Tuesday 3 p.m. ET deadline approaches.
If the Cowboys were to land Hendrickson, they would almost certainly have to negotiate a new long-term extension to keep him in Dallas.
Jerry Jones Confirms Cowboys Already Made One Trade
Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones confirmed on Monday, November 3, that the team has already made one trade and is pursuing two more ahead of the deadline. Speaking on “The Stephen A. Smith Show” on SiriusXM, Jones wouldn’t disclose who the team has acquired, citing pending league paperwork.
“A lot of action going on right now in terms of trading,” Jones said. “We certainly have made a trade and we may make a couple more trades before that deadline. We’ve made one. We possibly could make two more, and I’m going to wait and let you read about that when we send the papers in tomorrow.”
Jones hinted that the Cowboys’ focus is on improving their defense, which ranks near the bottom of the NFL in several key categories. “Immediately it will have them on the field and it will address some of the things that have been our shortcomings,” he added. “It’s on defense.”
The Cowboys (3-4-1) have struggled to generate consistent pressure since trading away Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers before the start of the season. With $31.5 million in available salary cap space, Dallas has the financial flexibility to absorb Hendrickson’s contract and even extend him if necessary.
