Cowboys WR KaVontae Turpin Sends Fiery Message on His Return

The Dallas Cowboys are a team that desperately needs to get back in the win column. After suffering an upset defeat at the hands of the Carolina Panthers in Week 6, the Cowboys have just a 2-3-1 record, and if they don’t turn things around soon, they could be in serious trouble. Thankfully for them, they are set to get a couple of key offensive playmakers back for Week 7.

The most notable injury news in Dallas this week has been CeeDee Lamb’s return from an ankle injury, but he’s also set to be joined on the field by wide receiver/return man KaVontae Turpin. After missing the past two games with a foot injury, Turpin made it clear he’s ready to get back out on the field with the rest of his teammates.

There’s no doubt the return of Lamb is a big boost for the Cowboys’ offense, especially with Dak Prescott and George Pickens establishing a solid rhythm over the past couple of weeks. However, getting Turpin back, too, can’t be overlooked. At his best, Turpin is one of the most lethal kick and punt returners in the league, and he’s also taken on a bigger role in the passing game on offense so far this year.

Through his first three seasons in the league, Turpin has racked up a pair of Pro Bowl selections and an All-Pro First Team honor, due in large part to his ability to rack up big yards as a return man. Turpin hasn’t ripped off a big run just yet this season, but he’s made up for it by stepping up on offense, as he’s caught 11 passes for 159 yards and a touchdown through four games.

Lamb’s presence on the field may cut into Turpin’s work on offense, but there’s no doubt that he will provide Dallas’ special teams units with a boost moving forward. When speaking about his impending return to the field, Turpin revealed that he is feeling fully healthy after his brief absence, which will surely catch the attention of the Cowboys’ Week 7 opponent, the Washington Commanders.

“I feel good,” Turpin said on Friday. “I feel like I’m back to 100%, no hurting in my toe. I feel good knowing that I can be out there competing with my guys on Sunday.”

It’s been a rocky couple of months for Dallas, as the team has been forced to overcome the sudden loss of Micah Parsons on the fly after he was traded to the Green Bay Packers right before the start of the 2025 campaign. While the offense has looked great through six games, the defense has been one of the worst units in the league, which has made winning games tough for the Cowboys.

If Dallas is going to earn victories on a regular basis, it looks like it is going to have to have to rely on its offense to do most of the heavy lifting. Taking down the Commanders in Week 7 is not going to be an easy task, though, even with their own offense dealing with a handful of injuries. Kickoff for this game is scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET, and you can bet the Cowboys will be very motivated to earn their third win of the year.
