Early this month, former UFC champ champ Conor McGregor announced that he was planning to return for the 2026 card at the White House.
Since then, McGregor has yet to register a test in the UFC’s Anti-Doping database, however, it sounds like the Irish star and Dana White will be linking up for a meeting in Italy sometime soon.
On Thursday, the UFC boss posted a video on his Instagram story showing a box of cigars McGregor gave him. Along with the video, White thanked the former champ while teasing an upcoming meeting between the two, as seen below:
The big question, of course, is whether McGregor will actually re-enter the UFC’s testing pool in anticipation of a return.
While fans have lost faith, with many giving up hope of an eventual comeback, Conor McGregor has remained adamant that he wants to fight out the remaining two bouts on his UFC contract.
Conor McGregor Says He Has Been Tested Since Announcing Return
According to the UFC’s anti-doping records, Conor McGregor was drug tested 11 times in 2024 as he prepared to make his return against Michael Chandler, however, as of Jul. 25 2025, at 9 a.m. PT, McGregor has yet to register a drug test in 2025.
Despite that, while speaking with The Schmo at the recent BKFC press conference, McGregor claimed that he has already been tested:
“They’re testing me. I’m in the pool. I thought that’s what the pools were for, jumping in and out, but I’m back in the pool. So get ready and stay ready because damage will be done. Oval office. White House card.”
Whether we start to see McGregor appear in the anti-doping database following his upcoming meeting with Dana White, only time will tell.
Will Potential BKFC Bout Motivate McGregor to Return?
For years now, Conor McGregor has maintained that he will box again.
Now, as a part-owner in the BKFC, McGregor has made it clear that he wants to compete in a bareknuckle bout before riding off into the sunset. In order to do so, however, he will have to fight out the remaining two bouts on his UFC contract before hitting free agency.
While fight fans have become skeptical that McGregor will return for one fight, let alone two, McGregor has since doubled down on comments from earlier this year where he vowed to fight in BKFC before retirement.
During an appearance on The Ariel x Ade Show on Dazn, BKFC founder Dave Feldman dished on the situation, revealing that McGregor told him he’s planning to fight out the final two bouts on his contract in order to hit free agency:
“He’s got to get right. The whole world’s waiting. Is he going to get in shape and fight? He told me in person, he whispered in my ear, he said, ‘I’m in the testing pool. I’m getting ready to make my comeback. I’m going to fight on that big card, then I’m going to have another fight, and then we can talk.’”
Given the sentiment around the MMA community, however, many fans remain skeptical.
