Dana White recently touted the UFC‘s unique and flexible work environment. He believes their schedule promotes a strong work-life balance, which creates a positive and productive environment for UFC employees.
White has always operated the UFC differently than other companies. His approach is the same for his staff. He wants his employees to have a strong presence in their family lives, without their job interfering.
“I always tell my staff how much I love them and care about them,” White said during his appearance on Cutler Cast. “We don’t have this thing at the UFC where if you’re not at work by 9:03, you’re going to get written up. We’re all grown ups.”
He continued:
“I don’t care if you [expletive] do your work at nine in the morning or nine a night. And by all means, if your kid has a play, school function, a practice, or a game, I hope you’re gonna be there. I hope you’re gonna go. That [expletive] very important to me.”
White’s strong affection for his staff’s loyalty ties directly into the UFC’s unique work environment. He also mentioned that his employees share his passion for the sport and promotion’s success.
“What I love about my staff is department by department, I can show you people who love it as much as I do.”
Dana White Opens Up About Family Dynamic at UFC
White also opened up about how he views his UFC employees as an extension of his family. He highlighted the significance of their work and how he shows appreciation.
During his appearance on Cutler Cast, White revealed that he organizes quarterly office functions. He encourages staff to bring their families, helping them better understand what their parents to at work. It also offers a chance to connect on a more personal level.
“We run just a completely different business and work really hard. I try to throw three, four parties a year for the staff to come out and just [expletive] relax, bring your family into work. And, I want the kids to realize where the parents are all day and I love my team.”
White Doesn’t Push his Political Beliefs on his UFC Staff
While White supports President Donald Trump, he made it clear that he doesn’t push his political views on UFC staff.
Trump has attended several UFC events and even plans to host a historic one at the White House next July. However, White stressed that he respects his employees’ right to their own opinions and freedom to support whoever they choose.
White clarified any misconceptions that he tries to sway his staff’s political views.
“I’m sure in [the UFC] there are people that are on the opposite side of me politically and in a lot of different areas. I don’t know because I don’t care,” White said on Cutler Cast. “Never once have I told my employees, ‘Get out there and vote for Donald Trump.’ You’re all grown men and women, you live in America, you can vote for whoever you want to. I don’t tell my employees anything except their job.”
