Menzies, 35, had been working as a plumber alongside his time at the oche.

Earlier this month, he had vowed to quit the job after he almost missed out on playing at the Players Championship 11 in Leicester.

Menzies won the tournament despite being held up in traffic on the M1.

He has now followed through on his vow and has left the pipe wrenches behind to focus on his darts.

The Glaswegian thrower made the announcement on social media with an 11-word post.

He wrote: “Officially done with the plumbing game for at least two years.”

Fans were chuffed for Menzies as they flooded the comment section.

One posted: “That’s me lumping on you to win a major at some point.”

Menzies has become a big crowd favourite among darts fans and is even dating Queen of the Palace Fallon Sherrock.
