Davante Adams’ Honest Response To 2,000-Yard Question Ahead Of Rams Season

In the modern NFL, the race to 2K in a single season continues to hover just out of reach for wide receivers. Kay Adams asked Los Angeles Rams star Davante Adams whether he or new teammate Puka Nacua would be the first to achieve that milestone.

The six-time Pro Bowl wideout had to laugh.

“That’s funny you say that,” Adams said Monday. “Me and Tutu [Atwell] were actually just talking about this in the locker room. And if you talk to him at any point, you could ask him. He asked me what’s the most I ever had in a season. What’s my goals. And I gave him a goal. I don’t share that stuff on camera because that’s only bad.”

The 32-year-old veteran joined the Rams on a two-year, $46 million contract in March, after a turbulent season that started with the Las Vegas Raiders and concluded with the New York Jets.

The Raiders traded Adams on October 15 after just three appearances with the team in 2024. He joined Aaron Rodgers in New York, finishing with 67 receptions for 854 yards and seven touchdowns in 11 games.

New Role, New Mindset With Rams

Adams has put up staggering numbers in the past. His career-high 1,553 yards came in 2021 with the Green Bay Packers. His 2022 season in Las Vegas included a NFL-best 14 touchdowns.

“It’s a very general goal,” Adams said. “Not like a specific number but it’s more about just the way I wanna do it. I said yeah, I feel like I could get 2K. I feel like that really wouldn’t be that crazy.. but I said I don’t know how much I wanna have 2K on this team.”

Despite his age, there’s not much concern about his WR1 status heading into his first year in L.A.. And it appears there’s a different vibe with the Rams.

“At the end of the day, so much of my enjoyment and the way I show my excitement.. I don’t do it a lot,” Adams said. “I score touchdowns, I try to be Mr. Cool Guy all the time, and I can’t help it. That’s just what comes to mind. If one of my boys scores.. I was the most excited person in the world. And that’s how I’m going to be this year.”

Still Embracing 2K Challenge — If Needed

Adams isn’t waving off 2,000 yards for the Rams this season. But that’s not what he’s about in 2025.

“If I need to get 2K, I think we’re ready for that,” he said. “But I don’t think it’ll be that type of season. But I’m ready for every ball that comes my way.”

As training camp moves forward, Adams’ growing chemistry with Matthew Stafford is starting to take shape. Sean McVay’s offense thrives when it’s most unpredictable. It’ll be interesting to see how Adams blends into this offense. Stafford knows how to spread the football around to weapons like Nacua and Atwell. Kyren Williams and the running game is polished.

Now, Adams is in the building to be the final piece of a very explosive offense. Whether he hits 1,000 yards or 2,000 this season, it’s clear that winning is most important.
