Dave met Tricia Lynn Schempp at Vista High School in San Diego in the early 1990s, according to MSN. They became high school sweethearts and have been together ever since. The two married in 1997 and have stayed by each other’s side through every chapter — from Dave’s MLB playing days to managing the Dodgers.
Roberts often credits his wife for being his anchor. “She’s my biggest supporter, but she’s also honest with me,” he told LA Parent in 2020. “When I need perspective, she’s the first person I turn to.”

2. Tricia Roberts Built a Career in Design and Wine
Tricia has built a successful career outside of baseball. She runs Tricia Roberts Design, an interior design business that serves clients across the country. Known for her clean and warm style, she’s helped transform homes and businesses alike.
She’s also a certified wine specialist. Together, she and Dave co-own Red Stitch Wine, a boutique label they launched with friends. The business blends their shared passion for wine, travel, and hospitality.

3. Dave and Tricia Have Two Kids, Cole and Emmerson
Family has always come first for the Roberts household. They have two children — Cole and Emmerson (Emme) — who are both carving out their own paths.
Cole followed in his dad’s footsteps, playing college baseball at Loyola Marymount University before signing with the Arizona Diamondbacks as a free agent in 2023. He’s now working toward a professional baseball career.

He told LA Parent that balance is something he works at every day. “When I’m home, I try to be present,” he said. “I put the phone away, and we eat dinner together. My wife and kids deserve my full attention when I’m not at the ballpark.”
He added that his family helps him keep perspective. “I love what I do, but my identity isn’t just baseball,” he said. “It’s being a husband and a father.”
5. The Roberts Family Gives Back to the Community
The Roberts family is known for their community work around Los Angeles. Dave and Tricia have supported cancer patients at the UCLA Santa Monica Oncology Center and regularly participate in local fundraisers and charity events.
