Deion Sanders Makes Sanders Family Announcement That Also Impacts Shedeur Sanders

The Cleveland Browns announced on August 26 that they’ll officially keep Shedeur Sanders on the roster. It remains uncertain just how much Sanders will play, as he’s currently the QB3 on the depth chart.

Regardless, this is a positive sign for Sanders as he looks to launch his NFL career. After going in the fifth round, there certainly weren’t any guarantees about his career moving forward, but he has an opportunity to play at the highest level, and that’s all he can ask for as of now.

Despite Sanders getting some promising news on Tuesday, it was reported earlier in the week that his brother, Shilo Sanders, wouldn’t get the same opportunity.

Deion Sanders Speaks Out

Unlike Sanders being with the Cleveland Browns, his brother won’t be a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They decided to cut him, which didn’t come as much of a surprise. However, Deion Sanders, arguably one of the greatest players in NFL history, and their father, had some comments to make about the situation.

While his focus was on Shilo, his comments also had some impact on Shedeur.

“We’re praying that he gets another opportunity to go with a team, but if he doesn’t, the plans have already been put forward to what he’s going to do next. … All the Sanders are going to be straight, with or without football,” he said, per Jenna Laine of ESPN.

Browns QB Shedeur Sanders has a chip on his shoulder

Shedeur hasn’t wanted his father at Cleveland Browns practices over the first few months of his career, and it makes sense. While Deion is outspoken, and rightfully so, given what he’s accomplished throughout his NFL career, Shedeur wants to ensure he has a career for himself first.

When he spoke about the situation, according to On3, it was because he wanted to prove to his father that he could get the job done before he showed up.

“I look at my own point of view. Like, I don’t want him coming to see me right now, because I want to get to where I want to go then for him to see me,” Sanders said. “I don’t want him to come and see me, you know, get a couple reps and you know, he’s cheering like a good dad, like, Nah, you can’t be proud of me right now. I gotta get to where I’m going.

“And I know it’s a lot I got to do to get there. So it’s kind of like I just want everything that I’m doing is just like, focus on this time, and I don’t want no distractions. Because we know how the media, we know how everybody will take it and take away from the team, just from him being my own dad showing up. So, you know, it’s a gift and a curse at the same time.”

As for Deion’s comments, it’s only fair to suggest that all of his family will be more than fine if they don’t have successful NFL careers.

Whether it be making their own money from their playing days in college, doing other things if they didn’t pursue a football route, or anything else, the Sanders are very successful.
