The Cleveland Browns were busy during the 2025 NFL Draft. They shocked the league by trading down from the No. 2 overall pick, allowing the Jacksonville Jaguars to select two-way phenom Travis Hunter. Still, the Browns brought in quite a haul, as they used the No. 5 overall pick on Mason Graham, before selecting Carson Schwesinger and Quinshon Judkins with the No. 33 and No. 36 picks, respectively.
While all three of these guys figured to be set to have big roles with the Browns in 2025, Judkins seemed primed for a leading role on offense, especially when considering the departure of Nick Chubb. That may have changed, though, as he was arrested on a domestic violence and battery charge on Saturday, with more details about the incident being revealed by Judkins’ lawyer at his initial court hearing.
Quinshon Judkins Maintains Innocence in Wake of Arrest
After a pair of standout seasons with the Ole Miss Rebels, Judkins transferred to the Ohio State Buckeyes in 2024, helping them win a National Championship. While working in a timeshare with Treveyon Henderson, Judkins racked up 1,060 yards and 14 touchdowns on the ground, and 22 catches for 161 yards and another pair of scores as a receiver.
With the Browns moving on from Nick Chubb this offseason, it seemed like Judkins was set to earn a decent chunk of snaps as a rookie while working alongside Jerome Ford. His recent arrest, though, has suddenly thrown everything up in the air, as his off-field issues will have to be sorted out before he can worry about his role in Cleveland’s offense.
Judkins has been accused of punching a woman with a closed fist in the chin/lip area, while also striking her in the left arm and thigh. Photos of bruises that were allegedly a result of the incident were shared by the woman with police officers. At his court hearing, Judkins maintained his innocence, with his lawyer providing some more information on the situation.
“It happened on July the 7th, according to the arrest affidavit, after they left the airport. She didn’t report it until the 12th,” Judkins’ lawyer David Weinstein said during the initial court hearing. “Celebrated her birthday, there was some type of spectacle that she got involved in, and it wasn’t until after that that she made this after-the-fact report. While the a-form suggests that there are photos and bruising, there’s no proof as to when those bruises took place.”
Browns Preparing for Training Camp Amid Quinshon Judkins’ Arrest

GettyThe details surrounding the arrest of Browns’ rookie running back Quinshon Judkins have been revealed
There’s been a lot of drama surrounding the Browns this offseason, and Judkins’ arrest will only add to all the off-field noise the team has had to deal with. If he’s not ready for training camp, Ford will have to shoulder an even bigger role out of the backfield to start, with fellow rookie Dylan Sampson and Pierre Strong Jr. also set to get more work.
It’s best not to assume anything about Judkins’ arrest until more details emerge, but for now, the wind has been taken out of his sails when it comes to his jump to the NFL. As a result, this situation will be worth keeping a close eye on, especially as training camp continues to draw closer.
