Detroit Lions Fans Outraged Over Jared Goff News

Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions and quarterback will likely be skipping the postseason, but Goff still had a season that was historic when it comes to his numbers. For the season, Goff has thrown 4,036 yards with 32 touchdown and just five interceptions, according to EPSN research, which certainly earns him gold stars.

Of course, the Lions now have a less than 10% chance of making the postseason, according to NFL statistics, after falling to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, December 21, in a 29-24 final score. But, that doesn’t take away from the individual talents that these players possess, and Goff is certainly one of the strongest on the roster.

But, Detroit Lions fans aren’t happy about some news about Goff that broke on Tuesday, December 23. They’re protective of their franchise quarterback and want to see him get the respect in the NFL that he deserves.

Detroit Lions Quarterback Jared Goff Snubbed

Goff has led the Detroit Lions to a 8-7 record for the season, but that doesn’t tell the whole story. He’s an elite quarterback, but on Tuesday, when the Pro Bowlers were announced for 2026, Goff wasn’t on the tally as a starter. Instead, he was named an alternate. Lions fans weren’t happy about it.

“Jared Goff is obviously the biggest snub this year. Sam Darnold voters are clowns,” one Lions follower said on X. “How did Goff not get a selection?” another asked.

“Honestly, Goff not in this is wild. I am on the we need mobility train but his numbers still don’t lie,” one more added. “The Goff disrespect is crazy,” another said.

More commenters on Instagram said that Goff was “robbed” and that having Darnold over him is “preposterous.”

As for the Lions who did make the roster, it’s a good group of talent. The players who are in for 2026 include linebacker Jack Campbell, running back Jahmyr Gibbs, edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson, tackle Penei Sewell and wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown.

Campbell, Gibbs, Hutchinson and Sewell were named Pro Bowl starters. The Detroit Lions also had 5 players named as alternates for the Pro Bowl, including Goff (first alternate), safety Brian Branch (first), wide receiver Jameson Williams (fourth) , safety Kerby Joseph (fifth) and tight end Sam LaPorta (fifth).

As for quarterbacks, Seattle Seahawks’ Sam Darnold, Dallas Cowboys’ quarterback Dak Prescott and LA Rams’ Matthew Stafford were picked from the National Football Conference. For the American Football Conference, it was the Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen, LA Chargers’ Justin Herbert and New England Patriots’ Drake Maye.

Jared Goff Talks Detroit Lions

After the Lions’ loss to the Steelers on Sunday, Goff opened up about the controversial game ending. What happened is that the referees deemed the game over after an offensive pass interference call, following Amon-Ra St. Brown pushing Jalen Ramsey in his route. The play was deemed no good.

“The one where St. caught it that we thought was a touchdown, in my opinion, that’s a bad call, but those happen,” Goff said after the loss.

Goff added, “Listen, man, they’ve got a tough job and they make calls that go our way all the time, but that one in particular he should not hang his head about and I know he’d like to have the in line back again.”
