Noah Davisâ time with the Los Angeles Dodgers was short-lived.
The Dodgers parted ways with Davis on Monday, trading the right-hander to the Minnesota Twins for cash considerations. Davis, 28, will report to Triple-A St. Paul.
Davis was hit hard in his brief time as a Dodger, pitching to an unsightly 19.50 ERA in five relief appearances. Most of that damage came during an 18-1 loss to the Houston Astros on July 4 in which he was tagged for 10 runs on six hits in 1.1 innings. The following day, he was sent down to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Altogether, Davis allowed 14 runs (13 earned) over six innings with Los Angeles. He also struck out eight and walked five.
What Will Noah Davis’ Role Be?
Davis made one appearance in Triple-A after being optioned, throwing three scoreless innings against Sugar Land on July 9. He was designated for assignment two days later, an expected move given how ineffective he pitched at the major league level.
Davis will remain in the minors for now but could find his way back to the bigs in short order depending on how the July 31 trade deadline shakes out. The Twins entered the All-Star break at 47-49, 11.5 games behind the Detroit Tigers in the American League Central, raising the likelihood that they are sellers later this month. According to ESPNâs Jeff Passan, multiple Twins relievers could be on the block, including All-Star closer Jhoan Duran, Griffin Jax and Brock Stewart.
Should they get moved, it wouldnât be surprising to see a veteran like Davis, who is on the Twinsâ 40-man roster, called on simply to fill innings.
New Twins Reliever Has Been Well-Traveled
Davis spent the previous three seasons with the Colorado Rockies. He made 18 appearances, including six starts in 2023, with a 7.71 ERA. He is 0-5 for his career.
He signed a minor-league deal with the Boston Red Sox in December and was impressive during spring training, striking out nine in 9.1 innings while sporting a 0.86 WHIP and .206 batting average against. But on Opening Day, he was flipped to the Dodgers for cash.
