Fresh off being back-to-back World Series Champions, the Los Angeles Dodgers must operate like every other MLB team and turn the page towards the offseason. With such a loaded roster, the Dodgers don’t need much. However, reports by ESPN’s Alden Gonzalez indicate that Los Angeles will be in the market for a closer.
Flashback to last offseason. The Dodgers went out and committed to three relievers (Tanner Scott, Kirby Yates, Blake Treinen), and all three of them underperformed. Â A new prediction has Los Angeles meeting the demands of former New York Yankees reliever, Devin Williams.

Should the Dodgers Sign Devin Williams?
Devin Williams did not have the best time in pinstripes in 2025. He posted a 4.79 ERA in 62 innings and lost his closer position multiple times throughout the season. Now, he’s a free agent eligible to sign with any MLB organization.
The Dodgers have been the organization over the past several years that can get pitchers back on the right track.
In a recent predictions piece by Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox, the Dodgers are predicted to sign Devin Williams in free agency:
“It would seem that both the Dodgers and Williams agree with Reynolds, at least to some degree. The Athletic’s Fabian Ardaya reported earlier this month that there was mutual interest between the two parties. Unless Williams receives a can’t-refuse offer elsewhere, it could be hard to turn down a chance to play with the champs.”
“Prediction: Williams signs with the Dodgers.”

The 31-year-old Williams is going to be a coveted arm on the reliever market as the winter progresses. Despite a down year with the Yankees, Devin Williams proved to be one of the best relievers in MLB 2022-2024. He was named to the All-Star team twice in that span and did not post an ERA above 1.93. All in all, Williams has 68 saves in his career and a 2.45 ERA in 297.2 innings.

Dodgers Offseason Pitching Outlook
The Los Angeles Dodgers front office has decisions to make regarding a few arms that are now free agents. Relievers Michael Kopech and Evan Phillips are free agents after Phillips was non-tendered.
Aside from that, the Dodgers are just looking to add to an already stacked pitching staff. Roki Sasaki took a big leap in the MLB playoffs for Los Angeles, and Tanner Scott and Alex Vesia should be back for Spring Training.
Another thing Los Angeles could do is look at other free agent arms that have high upside. If the Dodgers are unable to sign Devin Williams, they could either target a lower-leverage reliever or a depth starter.
