Dodgers Stun Blue Jays, Win Back-to-Back World Series

The Los Angeles Dodgers stunned the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 7 of the 2025 World Series, taking their second-straight championship at Rogers Center on Saturday night.

The Dodgers got a huge 11th inning home run from catcher Will Smith, after an unlikely hero, Miguel Rojas, tied the game with a solo blast in the ninth.

With the win, the Dodgers become the first team since the 1998-2000 New York Yankees to win consecutive World Series. The Dodgers won Games 6 and 7 in Toronto to pull off the remarkable feat.

Beyond the crucial home runs from Smith and Rojas, the Dodgers got a heroic effort from Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who came into the game in the ninth inning after pitching six innings in Game 6. Yamamoto earned World Series MVP honors after notching three of the four wins in the Series.

Yamamoto pitched 2.2 innings, including a series-ending double play off the bat of Blue Jays catcher Alejandro Kirk.

It was a fitting ending to one of the most exciting World Series in recent memory. The upstart Blue Jays ran into a Dodgers powerhouse club that found an extra gear towards the end of the World Series.

Timely hitting and tremendous pitching efforts paved the way for the Dodgers to repeat as champions.

Meanwhile, the Blue Jays are left pondering what could have been. The Blue Jays were one inning away from their first championship in over three decades. That next championship will have to wait one more season.

Rojas the Unlikely Hero for Dodgers in Game 7

Miguel Rojas had not played in the World Series until Game 6. As a veteran presence on the club, Rojas mainly occupied a depth role for the Dodgers. But in Game 7, he picked a heck of a time to go yard.

Rojas’ home run off Blue Jays closer Jeff Hoffman erased a 4-3 Toronto lead. It’s worth pointing out that Max Muncy’s eighth-inning blast paved the way for Rojas to tie the game in the ninth.

All told, Rojas ended the game 2-for-5. It was a tremendous outing for a veteran infielder who deserved one last shot at baseball glory. While Will Smith got the game-winning blast, Rojas’ home run will go down in baseball lore as one of the most clutch hits ever.

Blue Jays Nearly Walk Off Series in 9th Inning

The Blue Jays nearly walked off the Dodgers in the ninth inning. The Jays had the bases loaded, but it was Rojas, once again, who made a crucial play to get a huge force out at home. While the Blue Jays challenged, the call on the field stood.

The Dodgers got out of the inning, setting up the extra-inning drama that ended the game and the World Series.

Ultimately, the Blue Jays were the biggest challenge the Dodgers faced all postseason. Los Angeles breezed through the Cincinnati Reds in the Wild Card round, beat the Philadelphia Phillies in four, and then swept the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Blue Jays were a worthy opponent for the back-to-back World Series champs. As the offseason officially begins, both clubs will be looking to retool and reload. The goal will be to return to the Fall Classic next October.
