Unprepared, outcoached, outclassed, and many other ways to say that the Miami Dolphins were simply embarrassing on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts. Many were down on the Dolphins entering the season, but if this is how the team is going to play for the remainder of the year, there isn’t much of a reason to keep any decent player on the roster.Â
The Dolphins should look to trade as many players as they can in the hope of rebuilding the correct way in the future. Unfortunately, that could mean DeâVon Achane, arguably the best player on the offensive side of the football right now.Â
When proposing potential trades for Achane, Christopher Kline of FanSided had an intriguing one, pitching an idea to send him to the Pittsburgh Steelers.Â
âDe’Von Achane put up 1,499 yards from scrimmage last season, providing one of the few positives in an otherwise wayward and disappointing season for Dolphins fans. Now in his third NFL season, that second contract is right around the corner. Running backs almost never come by extensions easily in this economy.
âIf the Dolphins are going to hit the eject button on this team, trading Achane at the peak of his value is the only logical step. There is still a market for dynamic running backs in their youth; Philadelphia just shelled out two Day 3 picks for Tank Bigsby, who will take up second-string duties behind Saquon Barkley,â he wrote.
Would Steelers Trade for Dolphins’ Tyreek Hill
The Pittsburgh Steelers got a much-needed Week 1 win against the New York Jets, with Aaron Rodgers playing decent football. Unlike the Miami Dolphins, they came out and took care of business against a team they shouldâve beaten. Even if it wasn’t easy, the Steelers are 1-0.Â
Speaking of the Steelers, it’s also worth noting that reports have indicated they’re already interested in trading for a Dolphins player, specifically Tyreek Hill.Â
Moving Achane and Hill to the Steelers would only complicate things, as there likely wouldn’t be a perfect deal for either side to make for two types of players of their status. Still, it’s interesting to hear that there’s some interest from Pittsburgh in a trade already.Â
“Thereâs already chatter, in the aftermath of Sundayâs win over the Jets, that the all-in Steelers could go even more all-in by making a move for (Tyreek) Hill,” Florio wrote. “Yes, Pittsburgh already has receiver DK Metcalf, whoâs making $30 million per year on a five-year deal. But the Steelers donât have a clear cut No. 2. Hill would be 1b (if not, at times, 1a) to Metcalf.”
What Do Dolphins Want to Do With Tyreek Hill
The question the Miami Dolphins have to answer is what they want to do in the future. If the organization and front office don’t believe that they have an opportunity to compete, there’s absolutely no reason to keep any decent player on the roster.Â
Miami will eventually need to make a complete teardown again after this week, so they might want to get ahead of it.Â
If the Dolphins believe that Achane would be the player to move on from and get some decent assets in return, it’s something they should consider.Â
When examining just how bad things have truly been, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN made some great points about the Dolphins, showing how bad everything is.Â
âBut it does feel as if the Dolphins’ season — and the purveyors of it, GM Chris Grier and coach Mike McDaniel — is approaching a rather early crossroads. The team looked uninspired and inexplicably flat Sunday in Indianapolis. Miami seems as if it’s much better than what it showed, but a few themes emerged when asking people around the league their impressions of the Dolphins.Â
âThere are concerns about the roster’s overall talent. The Dolphins moved on from several key players perceived as bad fits, which can improve a locker room. But they relinquished proven talent and replaced it with more cost-effective options that do not appear as capable in some cases,â he wrote.
