The relationship between the Miami Dolphins and 5 x All-Pro receiver, Tyreek Hill, has always been tenuous – at best – since the Super Bowl champion decided he wanted to leave at the end of last season, back in early January.
Things have cooled off since then, but speculation around the internet regarding his future has remained ever-present.
So after the events of Wednesday, where franchise quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, commented on Hill’s words earlier on Wednesday at the Dolphins’ training camp –Â this trade proposal has Tyreek Hill get shipped off to the other side of the country – to the Los Angeles Rams.

Tua’s Words Reveal Continued Strained Relationship With Hill
“Iâm not the only one that heard [Tyreek’s desire to leave]… You guys arenât the only people that heard that.” Tagovailoa said on Wednesday, “A lot of people that follow football, that follow the Miami Dolphins, that follow Tyreek, that are fans of his, everyone has seen that.
So when you say something like that, you donât just come back from that with, âHey, my bad.â Youâve got to work that relationship up, youâve got to build everything up again. Itâs still a work in progress, not just for me but for everybody. But like I said, heâs working on himself, heâs working on the things that he says he wants to get better with and do better on. So thatâs the first step to me so I commend him for doing that.”
Tagovailoa does not verbally tear apart his current teammate; indeed both players have done some of the best individual work of their careers with one another; but he also does not give carte blanche to the former Chief after his damaging words this past winter.
How Would A Tyreek Hill To The Rams Trade Work?
The Dolphins side needs little explanation; a historically volatile, ageing receiver who is starting to exit his prime on a deal that will count for $27 and $51 million against the cap over the next two years.
For the Rams, it may not be the first team that comes to mind, but it is actually a very intuitive match.
The Rams have an excellent locker room culture with a very well-regarded, Super Bowl-winning head coach and quarterback – alongside numerous other players.
Even with Puka Nacua and Davante Adams, the team is only one injury away from having a below-average receiving corps, such is the lack of depth behind the two, with the lukewarm Tutu Atwell the only other proven starter at the position group.
Hill provides a unique service; incredible deep speed. And his deep-threat skillset does not clash with the all-around work of Nacua, or the route-running finesse of Adams.
The Rams have the fourth most amount of salary cap room in the NFL at over $77 million when Hill’s contract starts to get really pricey in 2026, and the acquisition could make them an unstoppable offensive force over the next couple of years.
This could be the perfect match for general manager, Chris Grier, to get the talented but troublesome Hill off the Dolphins’ books once and for all.
