While Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill awaited surgery on Tuesday morning, he sent a heartfelt message to everyone associated with the Dolphins and the NFL.

“Thank you guys for the prayers, I feel all the love,” Hill wrote on X.com, “here we go.”

Hill included a heart emoji and peace sign along with a video where he shared more from his hospital bed in Miami. He injured his knee during the third quarter of the Dolphins’ 27-21 win over the New York Jets on Monday night.

“Alright, guys. Tyreek Hill here. Aka Cheetah. About to go in for this surgery. Keep your boy in your prayers,” Hill said in the video. “You guys have been awesome, man. Fins Nation. The whole entire NFL. You’ve been amazing, you know, sending me lots of love, lots of prayers, and I’m absolutely honored, man. You know, granted the situation.”

“But I love you guys so much and hope to see you soon,” Hill said. “Cheetah.”

Hill had six catches for 67 yards in the game before the injury, which occurred on his last catch as his left leg twisted during a tackle. It abruptly ends Hill’s 10th season in the league.

A five-time first-team All-Pro and eight-time Pro Bowler, Hill came into the league as  a fifth-round draft pick with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2016. Hill joined the Dolphins in 2022 via a trade.

He led the Dolphins with 21 receptions for 256 yards and a touchdown in four games this year. For his career, Hill has 819 receptions for 11,363 yards and 83 touchdowns.

Tua Tagovailoa Talked With Tyreek Hill Shortly After Injury

Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa said he was able to talk with Hill shortly after the injury before medical personnel carted off the star wideout.

“And as you can see on the jumbotron — he was kind of joking,” Tagovailoa told reporters after the game. “That’s just his personality. So he was joking when I came up and talked to him and when a lot of the guys came up and talked to him. That’s just his personality. That’s just who he is. But our thoughts and our prayers are with him.”

Tyreek Hill’s Demeanor Galvanized Dolphins

McDaniel said that Hill’s positive demeanor really impacted the team for the better after the injury. The Dolphins went up 17-3 in the third quarter and staved off the Jets‘ rally in the fourth quarter.

I think it’s giant,” McDaniel told reporters afterward. “A good portion of the team, we had the offense up at the time obviously so they’re already close to the hash, and specifically I saw him make eye contact and rip a joke or two to (Jaylen) Waddle and De’Von (Achane).”

“And you know, I think a lot of guys got back into the game provoked by what he said verbally. We talked a lot about all the stuff that Tyreek (Hill) has done this offseason, and a big portion is leading by example and connecting with his teammates,” McDaniel added. “He kind of utilized that connectivity to make sure that his team was finishing on the right end. So he was inspiring in that situation, and I think his teammates benefitted from that.”
