Reigning Intercontinental Champion and AAA Mega Champion Dominik Mysterio reportedly suffered an injury on Saturday. The Judgment Day member teamed up with El Grande Americano in the main event of Guerra de Titanes. They faced off against his father, Rey Mysterio, and Rey Fenix.
According to Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer, “Dirty” Dom suffered a right shoulder injury. He began favoring his right shoulder after taking a DDT bump the wrong way. However, he was able to get to the finish, which was a win for Rey and Fenix.
“Dom injured his shoulder taking the DDT from his dad near the end of tonight’s main event. Based on how he landed, my presumption is it’s likely a shoulder separation, which depending on the severity could be a short-term injury, or worst case scenario surgery. But we won’t know anything until he gets evaluated. He could barely use the arm at all,” Alvarez wrote.
The injury seemingly happened after Rey countered a vertical suplex by Dominik into a DDT. Penta, who was supposed to be in the match but wasn’t cleared to return from a shoulder injury, made his way to the ring. He prevented El Grande from using his metal plate.
Penta would use that same plate to headbutt Dominik, who got hit with the 619 and a splash for the victory, as per WWE.com.
Dominik Mysterio Gets Betrayed by El Grande Americano
After the match ended, El Grande Americano tried to help Dominik Mysterio to his feet. The ungrateful AAA Mega Champion pushed off his masked partner, who was baffled by “Dirty” Dom’s actions.
Rey Mysterio, Rey Fenix and Penta had the numbers against El Grande. But instead of attacking the popular luchador allegedly played by Ludwig Kaiser, Rey offered a handshake.
In a shocking turn of events, El Grande returned the favor and shook the WWE Hall of Famer’s hands. Fans inside the Guadalajara Arena exploded in cheers after it happened, possibly making El Grande an official babyface.
WWE’s masked creation has become a popular figure in Mexico despite being a heel. Kaiser has embraced the character, from speaking and singing Spanish to even adapting the luchador style of wrestling.
Dominik Tops ESPN’s List
At just 28 years old, Dominik Mysterio has barely scratched the surface of his growing stardom. Dominik’s development over the past two years has been impressive. WWE also seems to trust him enough to put him in a position to succeed.
ESPN recently named him the best pro wrestler under the age of 30 for the second consecutive year, beating out fellow WWE stars Rhea Ripley, Tiffany Stratton and Bron Breakker.
“Holding down the top spot for the second year in a row with his ever-improving in-ring ability and magnificent work on the microphone, Dominik has carved his own path in pro wrestling. He spent 2025 entering the “so bad he’s good” stage of his career, where he routinely gets the biggest crowd reaction — positive or negative — at arenas. He’s the bad guy everyone loves to hate and took his craft to the next level,” ESPN analyst Andreas Hale wrote.
Dominik got the biggest win of his career at Survivor Series: WarGames last month after he defeated John Cena to become a two-time Intercontinental Champion.
