Just another wholesome Drake Maye story before the New England Patriots head down south to do battle with the Tennessee Titans. When it rains it pours, and when the vibes are high, you take advantage of stories like these. It may not be hard hitting journalism, but second year quarterback and team captain Drake Maye continues to make the right move at every turn.
“From the Patriots locker room: After WR Stefon Diggs had his personal chef cook for offensive linemen at their weekly Thursday dinner last week, QB Drake Maye stepped in to host this week at his house — with a hibachi chef,” Patriots insider Mike Reiss reveals.
There’s nothing like a hibachi dinner before boarding your flight. When it rains it pours, the kid is doing alright.
Dan Orlovsky Breaks Down Maye’s “Top Ten” Season
Maye seems to be a humble kid- as humble as you can be at 23-years-old that is- so we are all hoping that this new found national praise doesn’t go to his head. But for we the fans, it is nice to bathe in the praise our franchise quarterback is getting.
The newest to acknowledge his greatness if former NFL quarterback turned ESPN personality, Dan Orlovsky.
“So far this year, one of the craziest numbers I’ve seen is that Drake Maye, throwing the football downfield 30 yards or more in the air is 20-of-27,” said Orlovsky. “That’s almost 75 percent completion percentage. The hardest throw in football, he is completing at an outrageously high number.”
To put that into perspective, the average around the league is well under 50%.
“It’s the number one reason why he’s top-10 right now as a quarterback,” Orlovsky continued. “It’s the number one reason why he’s become one of the best downfield throwers. It’s the number one reason why, New England, offensively, is having so much success throwing the football downfield.”
As of right now, Maye is fifth in the NFL in passing yards. He sits just 19 yards out of third place, trailing behind Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield.
