To date, the Los Angeles Rams are the only NFL team that Michigan Panthers quarterback Bryce Perkins has ever played for.
However, that could change after the former Virginia Cavaliers QB’s latest accolade.
Already the recipient of the United Football League’s Offensive Player of the Year award and set to face the DC Defenders in the championship game, Perkins was also named MVP. Perkins completed 69% of his passes for 1,341 yards, 9 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions.
Perkins finished second in the league in completion percentage, third in passing touchdowns, and fourth in yards through the air.
Bryce Perkins Offering Reminder of What Rams Saw

The former Rams QB and undrafted free agent, Perkins, also rushed for 269 yards and 5 TDs on 47 attempts. He was second among quarterbacks in rushing yards, finishing behind former Los Angeles Chargers QB Max Duggan, now of the St. Louis Battlehawks.
Perkins’ performance offered a reminder of what he brought when under center for LA during the 2022 season. He appeared in five games and started one.
Perkins had a 161-1-2 line on 59.9% completion in his six games with the Rams.
He also rushed for 90 yards on 19 carries.
Perkins’ brief tenure has led to years of speculation about Rams head coach Sean McVay’s preference at QB.
Matthew Stafford is (or at least was) more mobile than Jared Goff. However, McVay has also flirted with another mobile QB in John Wolford, and the Rams have been linked to mobile options in the 2026 draft.
Perkins (and Wolford) may have just been a preview of the Rams’ future post-Stafford.
Perkins, 28, said that he is grateful for what he learned under McVay and behind both Goff and Stafford. Moreover, he is relishing his time in the UFL.
“It gets you in the feel of playing again,” Perkins told USA Today’s Jacob Camenker in comments published on June 13. “It lets you sharpen things that you may not necessarily know you need to sharpen depending on the situation you’re in in the NFL.”
“Being able to play in this league (the UFL) allows you to play well and play ball.”
Bryce Perkins Key to Panthers Championship

ESPN’s flagship website posted a preview of the Defenders and Panthers title tilt. It underscored just how key the ex-Rams prospect, Perkins, will be for both teams’ success. The site questions how the Defenders will guard against Perkins and the Panthers’ RPO game.
Michigan’s offense spreads opposing defenses “very thin horizontally.”
“The Defenders use exotic looks and tries to pressure from a variety of alignments (sometimes to the point of being unsound). It’s a high risk/high reward group. That may not be the ideal approach against Panthers quarterback and UFL Offensive Player of the Year Bryce Perkins and his cast of characters,” ESPN wrote on June 13.
“Perkins has made run/pass decisions at an elite level in 2025, and his production puts defenders in constant conflict when defending RPOs.”
Several players have made the leap from the UFL to the NFL. The former league wraps up during the window from mandatory minicamps and organized team activities to training camp. That provides an opportunity to assess options.
The UFL saw 18 of its alums on NFL rosters in October, with another 13 on practice squads.
