Eagles All-Pro Predicted To Be ‘Destined’ To Reach Hall of Fame

The Philadelphia Eagles have long had one of the best offensive lines in football. Indeed, a staggering four out of the team’s five projected starting five at the position this upcoming season have made either a Pro Bowl or All-Pro team over the course of their careers.

Whilst much of the focus recently has been on the rising capabilities of young behemoth left tackle, Jordan Mailata, and Landon Dickerson – it is perhaps some of the old heads who are best wired to lead the team on a defense of their Super Bowl victory this past February.

And CBS Sports’ Jeff Kerr believes that one of those more veteran figures – Lane Johnson, now heading into his age-35 season, his 13th in the league – will ultimately end up in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

“Lane Johnson is arguably the best right tackle of his generation,” Kerr wrote on Thursday, “the anchor of an Eagles offensive line that has won two Super bowl titles in the last seven years. A six-time Pro Bowler and two-time first-team All-Pro selection, Johnson has been arguably the best pass-protecting tackle in the NFL since he turned 30.

Getting better with age, Johnson has the championship pedigree to go with his Hall of Fame resume. ”

Is Lane Johnson A Surefire Hall of Famer?

Lane Johnson has had a phenomenal career: 12 – soon to be 13 – seasons in the league, with perhaps more to follow. Two first-team and three second-team All-Pro nods, in addition to six Pro Bowl selections have solidified him as one of the top offensive tackles of his generation.

Although he did miss out on making the 2010s All-Decade team, the four tackles chosen – Tyron Smith, Joe Staley, Jason Peters and Joe Thomas – all play exclusively on the left side, leaving it always an outside shot that Johnson would make it.

Perhaps his best claim to the Hall of Fame – and what might get him a gold jacket in his very first year of eligibility, is his role in guiding not one, but two different teams (albeit the same franchise) to the Super Bowl. Playing a major role in playing in three championship games, and getting two winners – both of whom had different quarterbacks and head coaches – is a real, bona fide achievement.

What Are The Eagles’ Offensive Line Expectations Heading Into 2025?

More of the same, most likely.

Earlier this month, Pro Football Focus’ Zoltan Buday graded out the Eagles as the league’s number one offensive line, writing the following.

“The Eagles boast the NFL’s best offensive tackle duo, featuring two players who rank at the top of their respective positions. Left tackle Jordan Mailata’s 95.2 PFF overall grade in 2024 led all offensive tackles, while right tackle Lane Johnson’s 88.9 mark placed fifth.

There is some uncertainty along Philadelphia’s interior following right guard Mekhi Becton‘s departure, but Landon Dickerson and Cam Jurgens remain to make this the best offensive line in football entering the 2025 season.”

Whilst the team no longer has Becton, it is still assuredly one of the NFL’s most staunch lines.
