Eagles Bring Back 6-foot-2, 205-Pound Former Second Round Pick WR

The Philadelphia Eagles need depth at wide receiver and on special teams down the stretch — bringing back a familiar face might do the trick.

The Eagles signed wide receiver and 2021 second round pick Terrace Marshall to the practice squad on Monday, December 1, ahead of their Week 14 Monday Night Football game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

“Eagles signed WR Terrace Marshall to their Practice Squad,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter wrote on his official X account.

Marshall, 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds, signed a 1-year, $1.195 million contract with the Eagles in April and made it to the final roster cuts on August 26. This is his third stint on the practice squad with the Eagles this season but he hasn’t played in any regular season games yet.

With 5 regular season games left, Marshall could be on the roster for 3 games before the Eagles have to elevate him to the 53-man roster.

“Eagles bringing back Terrace Marshall to the practice squad is the kind of low key move that wins championships,” Marcus Burelius wrote on his official X account. “Dude ran a 4.38 at his pro day and still has that LSU explosion. People gave up on him way too fast just because Carolina never used him right. Philly already has the best receiver room in football and now they add another freak athlete for free. Other teams must hate watching Howie Roseman work. This roster is straight up unfair at this point.”

Marshall Had WR3 Potential in Offseason

Marshall got somewhat of a fresh start after spending the first 4 seasons of his career on some truly terrible teams in 3 seasons with the Carolina Panthers and one season with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2024.

The Athletic’s Brooks Kubena singled Marshall out during minicamp after he made several big catches against cornerbacks Cooper DeJean and Adoree Jackson.

“The Panthers were dreadful while Marshall failed to find his footing during his three-year tenure there, and, after they cut him in training camp last year, he saw nominal playing time after finding work with the Las Vegas Raiders in October,” Kubena wrote on June 11. “Can Marshall revamp his career in Philly? Can Marshall afford the Eagles more than one reliable backup (which the Eagles have needed with both (DeVonta) Smith and (A.J.) Brown managing injuries in each of the last two seasons)?”

History Playing Next to NFL’s Elite Wide Receivers

It wouldn’t be much to adjust to if Marshall were to find himself running routes alongside Smith and Brown in the next few weeks.

Marshall has actually been a WR3 option behind 2 NFL All-Pro wide receivers, playing alongside current superstars Ja’Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson on LSU’s undefeated College Football Playoff National Championship team in 2019.

He’s also had experience catching passes from a Pro Bowl quarterback — Heisman Trophy winner and 2020 No. 1 overall pick Joe Burrow was on that same team. Playing behind Chase and Smith that season, Marshall had 46 receptions for 671 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Marshall had a career high 28 receptions for 490 yards and his only career receiving touchdown in 14 games with the Panthers in 2022. In 2024, he had 3 receptions for 41 yards in 7 games with the Raiders.
