The Philadelphia Eagles are searching for answers after losing two straight games. With the NFL trade deadline approaching on November 4, 2025, the Eagles still have some time to make a move.
CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin put together a list of the league’s top potential trade targets along with each player’s best landing spot.
The Eagles are being floated as a top fit for a star pass rusher. With the Miami Dolphins in free-fall mode, the Eagles could have a chance to pry Bradley Chubb away from South Beach.
“Miami has a potential predicament at pass rusher: Both Chubb and Jaelan Phillips (more on him below) are cornerstones of the defensive front, and the former is leading the charge with four sacks in five games this year,” Benjamin wrote in an October 8, 2025, story titled, “2025 NFL trade deadline buzz: Jets’ Breece Hall, Dolphins’ Bradley Chubb among seven key names to watch.”
“Chubb is also approaching 30 with a significant injury history and an expensive price tag for 2026 and beyond. Dealing him would further strip an ailing Miami defense of its remaining talent, but at 1-4, the Dolphins might be careening toward another overhaul as it stands.”
Potential Eagles Target Bradley Chubb Is on a 3-Year, $54 Million Contract With the Dolphins
The potential move would come with a cost to Philly given Chubb’s three-year, $54 million contract is slated to run through the 2027 season. Chubb’s cap hit jumps from $12.3 million this season to more than $31 million in each of the next two years.
This is less than ideal for an already expensive Eagles roster. Through six starts in 2025, Chubb has posted four sacks, 15 tackles and six quarterback hits. Chubb notched 11 sacks in 2024, his best statistical performance since 2018. The pass rusher also posted a career-high 22 quarterback hits last season.
The Eagles Could Strike NFL Trade to Bolster the Team’s Defense: Insiders
Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has not been one to shy away from striking a blockbuster deal. NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo noted that the Eagles could explore a potential trade to bolster the team’s defense.
“Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has never met a trade he wouldn’t consider, and don’t be surprised if he looks for some help on defense,” Rapoport and Garafolo detailed in an October 11, story titled, “Chargers in market for RB help, plus more trade nuggets ahead of Nov. 4 deadline.” “A cornerback or edge would make sense.”
The Eagles Offense Has Also Struggled This Season
Philly’s offense has not exactly been firing on all cylinders in recent games. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni discussed some of the team’s struggles connecting on deep passing plays, including the now famous A.J. Brown route.
“That’s what defenses do. I mean, sometimes you’re expecting a certain look, they give you a different look or they reroute within the middle of it,” Sirianni told reporters on October 6. “That definitely affected it. I’m not here to assign blame, we’re just looking for solutions and that’s what we’re doing.
“That’s what today was about. That’s what the rest of the week will be about, defined solutions. But I definitely think that the reroute affected the play, so hat’s off to them.”
