It has been quite a year for Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley and longtime girlfriend Anna Congdon. Barkley left the New York Giants for the team’s NFC East rival during the 2024 offseason, and all the playmaker did was help lead Philly to a Super Bowl during his first season with the team.
The star running back also announced his engagement as Congdon is going to be Barkley’s future wife. The news broke ahead of the 2025 Super Bowl, but Barkley admitted the couple had been engaged before it became public knowledge.
Congdon and Barkley are the proud parents of two kids: daughter Jada and son Saquon Jr. The running back credits Congdon for helping his play on the field.
“I can’t be the athlete I am and have the success I have in my career without the help of her,” Barkley told People’s Gabrielle Rockson during a February 4, 2025, story titled, “Saquon Barkley Says Proposing to Anna Congdon Made Him More Nervous Than Prospect of Playing 2025 Super Bowl.”
“She … always has my back, not only in football but throughout life. But as we continue to grow and mature and go through life together, we continue getting closer and continue to get even better,” Barkley added.
“And it’s a beautiful thing because we have two amazing children that we were raised and we just sit back and laugh sometimes when they’re over there playing and just smile and think about where everything started.”
Saquon Barkley’s Girlfriend Anna Congdon Is Expected to Appear in the New Amazon Documentary on the Eagles Star
NFL fans will get an inside look at Barkley’s life on and off the field in the new Amazon documentary entitled “Saquon” which debuts on October 9. Barkley revealed that he has been recording his life for the past five years and now the footage is about to be revealed.
Congdon was also featured in the “Saquon” trailer providing fans with a glimpse of the couple’s family life.
“This feature-length documentary—from executive producer Martin Scorsese—chronicles Saquon Barkley’s journey to Super Bowl glory with the Philadelphia Eagles, showcasing both his resilience through injury and contract disputes as an elite NFL running back, and his unwavering character as a devoted father, husband, and friend whose self-belief never wavered on or off the field,” Amazon detailed in a September 3, press release.

Most fans found out about Barkley and Congdon’s engagement days before the 2025 Super Bowl. Barkley admitted that he had been engaged to his fiancee for about “six months” before the news was made public.
“This is not new by the way,” Barkley told People when discussing his engagement. “I know it just broke the other day but I’ve been engaged for like six months.”
