In the modern NFL, some might try to argue that defenses don’t win championships anymore. Seattle Seahawks edge rusher Derick Hall isn’t one of those pundits.
While talking to KIRO-AM’s Seattle Sports’ Stacy Rost at the team’s minicamp, Hall only added to one of the league’s oldest sayings.
“Pass rush wins championships,” Hall told Rost.
The Seahawks third-year defender then hyped that his team has one of those pass rushes that can win a title this season.
“They pay guys to sack quarterbacks, and, I mean, I feel like if you do that, there’s no chance for the offense to be able to get going, so I think being disruptive at the front is huge,” Hall said during the interview. “I think that shows the importance of Coach Mike (Macdonald) and (defensive coordinator Aden Durde) and these guys here.
“They bring guys in for the front to be stout. I mean, from top to bottom, we have ones and twos who can go out and be a starter on a lot of teams across this league.”
Hall and the Seahawks grew a lot together last season. After not getting a sack as a rookie in 2023, Hall posted eight sacks in 2024.
As a team, Seattle was tied for eighth in the league with 45 sacks last season.
