Emiliano Martinez is a major doubt for Aston Villa’s Premier League clash against Brentford on Wednesday after suffering a fractured finger.
The Argentina international suffered the injury in a collision with Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson in the first half of Villa’s 3-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
Martinez was subsequently substituted at half time, with Robin Olsen taking his place in Villa’s goal for the second half.
According to TyC Sports, Villa’s medical team have confirmed that Martinez suffered a fracture on the little finger of his left hand.
It’s reported that Villa expect Martinez to make a quick recovery, however, the 32-year-old was also suffering from a back injury during the loss against Chelsea.

Olsen would be expected to start the game at home to Brentford on Wednesday night if Martinez is unavalable.
Unai Emery is expected to provide an update on Martinez’s injury at his press conference on Tuesday afternoon.
The defeat to Chelsea has left Villa without a win in eight games in all competitions.
Villa currently sit 12th in the Premier League table with 19 points from 13 games.
